R50/53 Accessory addicted!

Thanks Ed! I don't really want a CD changer since I have an iPod, so that's not a problem.
Not to hjack this thread, but followup question... I was thinking about getting the DICE iPod adapter, which I think displays info on the head unit (unlike the Mini/BMW adapter), however, I know it has to connect to the CD changer in the boot, which is a more difficult install. Does the Mini/BMW adapater connect there also or does it connect to the back of the head unit? How difficult an install is it? I may just let the dealer do it because I'm not handy at all, but their install prices are ridiculous!

I saw the DICE instructions, and it actually looked a little easier as there appears to be less things to take apart (dash, radio, etc.).
I actually liked the DICE since you can use both the CD and the ipod (I believe there is a pass through on the connections in back.) I just didn't want to open the boot to plug in my ipod (and the fact I didn't come across it until after I bought my used OEM kit...)

I do apologize for not checking the start date of the thread, though. One opinion does not require two posts from me....sorry.
Carry on!!!

I usually fall for this kind of stuff. We shall see how long I can go. I figure if I don't do my first one the second will be harder to do.
This really is just supposed to be a commuter car for me. If I ever get an MCS then I am sure the itch to mod will be too much to resist.
Hope you are having fun but you might want to slow down a bit. If you do every possible mod in the first year you won't have anything to do next year.

very true Becoka.
I have since changed my tone after several repeated trips to the dealership and a few talks with miniusa. My mods have become more practical and sensible than when I initially started this thread.
ive changed out the 17" s-lite wheels to classic 15's from goodwin racing. This has seriously changed the personality car from short trip city cruiser to long distance touring. The 17's were great on flat surfaces, handling was crisp and go-kartlike. On uneven terrain on even the kindest NYC roads, its usually pothole ridden. the 17's were really quite harsh and couldnt quite manage the city driving. I bet it would be great for those in suburbs or outside of urban living.
The idea for going to 15's came from having two loaner cars. I drove the loaner MINI (non-S) over the same roads to and from work without the usual discomfort. After 4 days, i was sold on the trade off of performance versus comfort.
The only mods that i seriously recommend are:
ipod adapter (used daily)
side window and rear window net screens (from mini and made from the same material used in the moonroof cover) - i didnt want the glare and I didnt want to tint the car either.
leather door handle grip covers (i dont like the cheapy feel of plastic and it offers protection from scratches over time)
Sunroof wind deflector (tremendously cuts down the wind noise)
The rest of the car is a joy to drive.
It took over 50 attempts at building my mini on miniusa to finally decide on the features i needed versus what i wanted. i should have applied the same practice on my mods. Now i am wiser.
