Saleen Mustang = Hero

Now this is not to stereotype people who drive Mustangs. Ive known plenty of people who drive them who are very cool, down to earth people, but you know there are some of these out there...

I was just getting back from a evening cruise around town w/ my girlfriend and it was starting to get late. We pull up to a stop light, and we were the first car at the light. From our left comes a late model Saleen with a custom blue and white paint job (it actually looked pretty nice) turning right, down the street we were on. So the guy makes eye contact with me and decides he wants to prove himself to me. So he puts down the clutch, hits the gas, then pops the clutch making him spin the tires a little bit and racing off (meanwhile looking at me the entire time). I literally just sat there and laughed at the guy.. I felt like I was back in HS or something.. I mean, cmon.. Im 29, Im not interested in pissing contests, get over it...

Ive had a few other instances of this happening where people decide to 'flex their muscles' at me. And really, all I can do is laugh and go on my happy motoring way...

Have you guys ever had something like this happen?

I had an 03 Cobra but glad to say I NEVER did such things but plenty of people did. One of the reasons I got rid of it was I got sick of EVERYONE trying to race me cause they want to "prove" their rustbucket could keep up with my modified beast. I never raced them on the street, and they always refused to come to the track.....imagine that! LOL

I've actually had fifty-somethings attempt to drag race with me when I'm in my Mini at night time. Seriously, are these people going through a mid-life crisis or what? I recovered from my crisis by buying a Mini!!! HEH HEH!!

I sometimes get that crap on the road. When I feel like playing, I usually come out ahead because I can stuff my MINI into openings most other drivers can only dream about.

An English buddy of mine had a factory MGB-GT/V8. They made them for three years and never exported them to the US. He could bring it over as a resident alien. They used the Rover 3500 V8. We would have so much fun with 240 and 260Z's back then. At idle, the MG sounded like it still had a 4-banger in it. Some twit in their Z would regret their choice of cars to race that night.

I've had tons of people try to race me. It's really interesting! I rather enjoy when people do that, actually, I think of it as spreading the Motoring spirit!! It's sort of flattering too, I guess.

I always figured peopel tried to race me because I was a teenage guy like them (most of them time). However once I was with a friend of mine and we were talking about listening to the super charger so I reved to like 5k. Turns out a boxer was next to me and he just gunned it off the line. I actaully had to pull over I was laughing so hard. No, I really don't think I can take a porche off the line. I guess he felt threatened.

Given that street racing topics are against the site guidelines, why don't we just save outselves the wait to see how long it takes someone to start bragging about their kill.
