Do you fold your mirrors when you park?

....you know...for that extra couple inches of protection against other vehicles or someone walking into them? Is it also true that EURO MINI's have power folding mirrors when the car turns off?

Just curious!

Unless I'm on a very narrow street in a city, I don't bother. It's not that's it's not a good idea, I just never think of it.
Once while driving my Saab thru Phila, and was impatient, I drove between a trash truck and a parked car to my lady friend's dismay...

"you won't make it!!"

BOTH side view mirrors were smashed, collapsed in, but nothing else. OK, that was closer than I thought. OPPS

No, I'd rather the doors on the huge SUV bash into my mirror than dent my bodywork.

Speaking of running into mirrors... I was waiting at a redlight in bad traffic, in downtown Chicago, a few weeks ago in my MINI, and some guy on a bicycle decided to run right into my mirrors. He just kept on riding like nothing happened. :impatient

I'm curious as well. I have an M3 as well and I know the EURO M3's have folding mirrors too. Cool feature...not sure why it's not a US option.

Do you fold your mirrors when you park?

I usually don't bother folding my mirrors, but occasionally I do when I have to park in a particularly tight space. Nice feature to have.

Folding your mirrors is an excellent way to get the water out when washing.Fold them to the outside of course!
And no, I dont fold my mirrors other than when I wash it.

I did when I had my car parked on a ferry, but that's about the only time.

The new Mercedes M-class does that. When you put it in park, the mirrors fold it. If you put it in reverse, the tilt down. They do that so when you paralell park, you can see how close your tires are to the curb.

It would be a nice feature on the MINI, but I can live without it.

yes the cars in some parts of Europe and Japan have mirrors that fold in when you park, the reason for this is the incredibly small parking spaces and such, keeps you from hitting someone or getting hit. So you fold them in when your about to park so you can fit in the space. Mikeythemini over on MINI2.com sells a retrofit kit for cars without them on his website

i learned that my mirrors fold in one time when my friend was riding with me and there was a guy on a motorcycle that had something against me or my friend i guess...so the guy passed me doing a wheelie and kicked my mirror as he went by...to his surprise it just spun around and wasnt damaged at all...i was gunna follow him but just decided to laugh about it
