How do I fit a bicycle inside a Mini? :D
Yes yes! It's time for... "What else could you possibly fit in your Mini tiiiiimeeee!" :impatient
Today, I'd like to know how to properly fit a bicycle inside a Mini. I know it's *probably* possible, as I fit the box containing my bike pieces in it , but I'm just not sure about a fully constructed one ! I could take the front tire off, but I don't know what else..
IDEARS?

the process:
a) rear seats down (duh)
b) remove both front and rear tires
c) remove seat/saddle
d) *carefully* place frame in @ an angle*
e) *carefully* stack tires on top of frame
f) optional: bungie cord everything to prevent sliding around
*we stack the frames opposite of each other- that is, bottom frame has tail end in first, facing right/passenger side, forks to the left; top frame has tail end in first, facing left/drivers' side, forks to the right... (notice the full flat/case of water!).
oh yeah---
e) plenty of blankets, etc. to protect your beautiful interior.
I wish I had a better photo... it's always an afterhought. HTH...

I have been trying to figure this one out also. I took off both wheels of my bike (56 cm road bike ) but I still couldn't get it to fit in the MINI. I had just assumed it would fit with both wheels off. It fit easily in my previous car (1988 Honda Civic HB) with just the front wheel removed.
I was considering getting this rear-mounted rack, http://www.bdiracks.com/bdiplate.html but then found that I would need to drill 4 holes in the body of the MINI to mount the backing plate, so that kind of put me off.
I haven't given up yet though, I still hope to find a way that it will fit inside.

Thanks for the great tips, guys! Konky, I never thought ANY car with a bike rack could look so good. Drooool. Excellent execution
In other news, I've secured the use of a truck, so fitting it into the Mini is a non-issue.
FYI, the bike is a 2001 Iron Horse G-Spot. It's in brand new condition. Upgraded fork, rear shock, XT shifters (XT rear derailleur stock). $450 (good deal?) I'm excited!

When I did my test drive 2 years ago, we folded down the rear seats in the demo so that I could see how my road bike would fit as that was a critical issue considering how much I ride. Granted my bike is only a 50cm frame, but I still wanted to be sure it fit...and it does, I take off the front wheel and leave the rear one on.
I, too, don't care for the looks of a bike rack, but there are some fine looking examples in this thread.
