R50/53 What Lives In Your Garage With Your MINI?
#351
Here's what lives in my garage next to my MINI.
On display at the September, 2012 Salisbury House Car Show. It's a 1973 BMW 2002. Original color was Fjord blue; repainted with Turkis (also an OEM color, but much rarer than Fjord). Engine rebuilt with higher compression pistons, Schrick 292 cam, tii exhaust header, Weber 32/36 downdraft carb. Trans is now E-21 5-speed overdrive, diff a 3.91 with 40% LSD. Other items include 5-series front vented rotors and calipers, E-30 14" wheels that look like Alpinas (which are unobtanium these days), Hella 500 driving lights, Cibie H-4 headlights, and Bilstein Sport shocks.
On display at the BMW Vintage Show Saratoga Springs October 2013, next to a Dakar yellow (not an original color) 2002. There's an Inka '02 in the background. There were more than 2 dozen '02s on display, including a Turbo, a Touring, a Bauer Cabriolet, and Yale Rachlin's white '02 with the trick ignition switch to foil potential car thieves.
At a local park on a warm early spring day 2013, just out from winter hibernation.

Hummm. Not so much fun as you guys. I have an 1997 Audi A-4 1.8T engine and tranny for sale. Otherwise a lot of stuff like snow blowers, mower, tool cabinet, and a lot of crap! those old Beemers are way cool! I love 2002's.
It's a nice engine rebuilt by Unlce Jim, a Certified porsche audi master mech who just died a month ago. Al2 flywheel and lots of extras and boosted computer too. Produced 275 HP before some old man rammed my sons a4. engine had no damage, hense the sale. We're moving soon and I don't want to take it with.
On the other hand, any of you have an older A4 that needs an engine. We might want it.
Otherwise, MINI sits in the driveway :>( Wife gets the spot for the Camry. You see why I'm the Blue Meany! Because she wants it. like the song...

Oh, man - I hope you keep that garage heated. My vintage Campy road bikes and my track bikes (also Campy-equipped) all reside either in the family room or in the finished basement. Only my totally weatherproof commuter bike gets parked out there. I couldn't ever consign the race bikes to the garage (which stands alone and isn't heated) because it's too dirty and cold out there.
