Sharp edges on shift ****

I have an 05 MCS and for some reason the edges around the shift ****, where the metal meets the leather, have become very sharp. I have actually cut my finger on the top edge and the bottom edge is just as sharp.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on what I can do? I would think filing the edges would ruin the crome finish on the ****.

Mine (2005 MCS) is that way too. I thought the **** was cracked or so. I'm gonna take a closer look.

Let me know if you figure something out to solve the problem. I really have to be careful sometimes to make sure I don't catch my thumb on the edge and cut it. ~L~

Could the plating actually be peeling away? I had that happen on a Prelude and cut myself pretty good a couple time! If it is peeling I think your warranty would take care of it.

I would take it back to the dealer and have them swap it out.
mine was the same way... cut my hand a few times.

I talked to the dealer about it and they said just drop by any
time and they would swap it out for me if needed. i just
went with an aftermarket MOMO ****.

Mystery solved

I just got done emailing my MINI service advisor. I told him about the problem and mentioned the chrome peeling thing. He said that is exactly what is happening and they will switch it out for me whenever I want to bring it in. So I guess I will get a new shift **** next time I go in. I was thinking about stopping buy to get new wiper blades next week, so I will have it done then. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Save up some cash and go get yourself a Whalen as well... definately looks and feels better than the stock ****. Have a custom one made, and really make other MINI's jealous
