Just wondering what other folks are getting. I got about 28 MPG on my first tank (mostly city driving) in my 5-speed MC.

What do people get in the MCS? What about autos?

Hoping to do better on the freeway.

After 7 tankfuls of premium gas I am averaging 24.8mpg. Thats with mixed hiway/city driving. Not bad, but not great either. BTW, I have a 6 speed.

 

28 is what I get in my MCS. Rock on leadfoot!!

 

5800 miles so far and have averaged 30.1 with about 70% highway driving.

 

~1,000 miles and averaging a little less than 25 a gallon with premium.

 

28.5 mpg-city driving on 06 MCS with 3500 miles on the odometer.

 

When you say 'highway driving,' do you mean real highway driving, or like the highways around here which are often stop-n-go?

Clocking it without using OBC, ours has dropped from about 30 mPG to about 28 MPG all highways...winter blends to blame?
And yes, real highway driving. Above results are a full tank from the NJ turnpike to the Mass Pike.

 

Not very much stop & go on the highways (yet). Fortunately, so far the highway miles are relatively unobstructed for 55-65 mph travel. Congestion is increasing every day so I'm going to enjoy the open road while I can!

 

2500 miles on my MCS, and I'm at around 24 mpg.

But then again:

1. I drive it likes it's stolen
2. The autobahn is my best friend
3. Even the side roads have no speed limits when not needed
4. I can't go faster than 210 km/h, because of these winter tires

I'm sure it'll go down when the summer tires come back.

So, if you're in the States and getting mileage like this, there's something wrong with your car!

 

I seem to pick up little bits in a few threads that the OBC is not as accurate as the old fashion way of checking MPG, pen and paper. Has anyone compared the two and what were your results? I know, I know, try it myself and find out. I am to, but everytime I fill up at the pump it seems to escape me, I believe I suffer from CRS.

 

Mine were the same within a coupla tenths.

After 7 tankfuls my OBC averaged 26.3mpg while the old fashioned paper and pencil says 24.8mpg.

 

I usually get 30mpg in town, 34 on the frreway.

My OBC is always about 1 mpg "optomistic" compared to real world calculating.

I did a 600 mile trip and got 26 mpg there and back. On the way up I was doing 80-85 for the majority. When I saw how poor my mileage was I decided to alter my habits on the way back. I never went above 75 on the way home. Most of the time I was right at 3000 RPM with the cruise control. I still got 26 mpg.

I figured it has to do with the weight in the car (3 people and snowboard and bags). On my commute of 90 miles a day, I'll get maybe 25 mpg. So much for this car being more efficient. It's a 2004 Cooper S w/ 15000 miles.

 

I have an 05 cabrio standard, with 5 speed. It get 30 MPG around town and about 35 on average highway, and that's not driving like a granny ! ( Even with the air conditioning running) The best I've done is 37 highway.

Mine has ranged from 26-34mpg depending on where i'm driving. Usually I get 26-28 in the city, and 30-34 on the highway. 3050 miles, just over 4 months old.

 

My wife received 29, in town driving, on the dealer supplied first tank of gas. She just refilled with premium. So we'll see how it goes.

 

You S folks that get near 30 amaze me... I can only do that on highway trips keeping it around 72MPH. Usually I'm around 25 in mixed driving and 22-23 all city... darned supercharger

 

whew, so I'm not the only one.

 

I used to figure out mpg ever tank or so, best was just over 40mpg, very boring, but we where having a contest here on NAM to see who got the best.

MPG should get better after about 5000 miles, mine did. Now with 75+k miles on my 03, I no longer check mpg, and with Premium at around $2.00 a gallon, I don't much care.

Believe it or not in my MCS I was getting 30 mpg (390+ miles on a tankful) during the summer, prior to the additive shot "winter gas."
With my ski rack on the roof, the MPGs dropped significantly. I took it off two days ago and will put in on only when needed.
