Sound System Steering Wheel Control Buttons

Does anyone know what the middle button is for on the steering wheel sound system control bottons that are behind the steering wheel? My middle button does not work, whereas the up and down tab buttons on the same compnenet work and control the track I am listening to on the CD player. Does anyone have a middle button that works? what's it for?!

I have a 2002 Standard. On the right hand side of my steering wheel, you can control the Volume while the middle bottom controls the mode. On the left hand-side the up and down tab buttons control the track. But the middle button does not work! Was this ever designed to be the on/off button. Does anyone know? Send news. Thanks.

It doesn't do anything !

HOWEVER in MY car it powers a very special "BEAM" ahead if me and I can control it by turning the wheel...

This "BEAM" (said in a good Austin Powerss vioce) BLASTS dumb drivers ahead of me.

That button's been a mystery for years. Many (myself included) would love for it to be a mute button. You can get an adapter from newministuff.com to make it trigger 'something', but otherwise, think of it as an exercise in symmetry.
