R50/53 Modding and Lease Agreements???
#1
For a variety of reasons, I am leasing my Mini...however, I really would like to mod the car. After being around friends that still have the 1st gen DSMs (90-94 Talon and Eclipse turbos), I've noticed the performance parts usually sell used for at least half of their brand new value, even if they have been on the car for a couple years. I've even seen the same thing with Camaro's back when I had a Z28.
Bottom line, for under $500, I could get an intake and supercharger pulley. If I keep them on the car for the next three years (when the lease is over), I could remove them and sell 'em in the market place for at least about $250. So, its definatly worth the time/money to do these two things.
Has anyone else checked, are there any stipulations in the lease agreement that would prevent me from installing an INTAKE? I figure that they'll never notice the supercharger pulley, so I can get away with installing it (as opposed to the intake, which stands out as soon as you pop the hood). ...and if someone asks why the car has a really nice supercharger whine....I'll blame it on the intake and bank on the fact that they will not do a couple hours work to prove me wrong...

Read the fine print in your lease, modding is usually a no no, but if you return the car to stock before the turn in, you should not have a problem, I had a cat back and intake on my last leased Suburban, I removed the intake but left the exhaust and Chase leasing didn't bat an eye when I turned it in at the end of the lease.
