Removal of armrest in door (2004)

I am wondering if anyone knows how to remove the armrest on the door of a 02-04 MINI. I want to get the fabric replaced with red leather but I can't seem to get the darn thing off....

Can anyone help?

Don't know if anyone knows this but if you have an MC40 the dealer when it orders a seat cover will order using the vin and will end up with cloth seats....they have to special order the parts due to the special interior bits.

This must be why they have fabric armrests....

There are three small torx screws along the bottom of the armrest. I think it's a T-7. I've swapped cloth for leather in an 04. There's no room to work and it's a real pain in the ***...I've been working on cars for over 20 years and I think it's a pain in the ***.

You'll need to hold the bit in the screw with your fingers and turn it with an open end wrench. Did I mention that it's a pain in the ***?

P.S. Is it a pain in the *** at all? ;-)
