really small car

I was reminded yesterday how small our cars really are. As disclaimer, I am not a small person at 6'-2" and well over the 250 mark on the scale. I gave a ride to my boss yesterday. He's 6'-6" and I would guess him to be around the 350 mark. He made the passenger's seat look really tiny - knees in the dash, elbow to elbow, and bugs kept hitting his forehead. Once he did infold himself at our destination, he was grinning - just not sure if it was the same reason that I grin while motoring....

I'm actually amazed that when I'm in my MINI, I don't "feel" like I'm in a tiny car.

For a girl, I'm very tall - 6'0". I've taken my boss to the obligatory drive/lunch in my MINI. He's 6'5" but very thin. It was a pleasant experience. Seats are always all the way back, so no chance of ever having passengers, but for those in the front seats, plenty of room.

He didn't seem overly impressed with the MINI, but he did offer an unsolicited, "Nice car, I can see why you enjoy it. It's not what I thought it was". Of course, this is coming from a guy that has a Porsche GT3 - XXX (bunch of add'l letters...sorry, I know nothing about Porsche's). All I know is, it's supposedly very rare...my MINI makes me a giddily (is that even a word?) happy motorist...and for what he said he spent on his fun little toy - I could have bought 3 MINIs, funded my son's Ivy League college tuition, and a large home in SoCal.

I'll take my "small" MINI anyday

I agree. Now that my daughter is driving my '03 Cooper all the time (don't worry, an '07 is on the way) I watch her drive off and think "what a cute little, tiny car!!" This perception wasn't as strong when I only saw from the driver's seat.

Nope, the car isn't small. Other vehicles are too big.

I also don't feel like I'm driving in a small car either. I'm 6'2, brother is 6'2, and Dad is 6'5 and we never feel like it's small (with two people in the car of course) . Its funny, because when you buy a MINI, for the most part you never really expect to have backseat passengers, at least in my case, so it seems spacious enough. I just hate it when people say my MINI is cute.

I feel the same way. When I'm in the driver's seat I don't feel the cars is small. But when its parked in a parking lot full of cars and all I can see are the trunks and tail lights of every car except my Mini, and finally find it tucked way in its parking space I think "wow, it is a small car".

Then again, every other car might just be too big...
