Sidewalks

Does anyone else have them? Is there a MINI club for Sidewalk owners?

Just received mine last week (5/24/07). I believe it's one of two in the Sacramento (Northern Cal area).

I'm in! My salesman told me I've got one of two in North Texas...the wife of the owner of the dealership has a white one, and I, the black!

Still trying to figure out a name for her tho!

I was at Niello about a week ago and they had a SS MCS Sidewalk with the kewl 17" wheels. Pretty spiffy.

Haven't seen a Sidewalk or a MINI club for them.

Sounds like an opportunity for you. (<---Something my boss likes to say.)

I'm still waiting for my MINI Sidewalk (still on Order, urrgh!), but uhh, how would I start a MINI club? As in, how do I get one of those neato badges in my signature? Is there an auto-generator?

Depending on where you are, you're probably only 4-6 weeks away...

Why did they call it a Sidewalk??? At least they didn't call it the Parking Lot.

^ I personally don't care for the name myself -I like the package, but would delete the side badging . . . but to answer the question: the name has 'historical' significance as it was a special edition of the Classic Mini.

Mine is arriving in a week (maybe 2)

I ordered my s-sidewalk in early May.

It's still stuck in 'Awaiting Transport' on the web site. The automoated voice system in 866-askmini says "In transport". Live person says "It looks like it's either getting on boat or waiting at the dock". So I called our sales person 2 days later (He has Thurs. off), and he said "It's on the ship and will arrive in NJ on the 11th, so you should see it by the 16th."

So actually, it should be here in 1 week...

Basically, customer service on phone said "Once it leaves production, dealer has better idea where your mini is.". True enough, my dealer was able to give me the details!

So here's our car's package
Cabrio - S
Sparkling Silver
Sidewalk package
Outside chrome
Tail light
Winter package
Convenience package
Power Folding Mirrors (yes, our deal was able to order them with winter package!)

Greetings Sidewalkers,

Greetings All Sidewalkers,

Check out the thread "How to Track your MINI". It's very helpful for obsessively checking where your mini is, and when you will get it. Be warned, you may be better off going into a coma and waking up 6-8 weeks after your order.:impatient

I picked up Pookah MCSC JCW (ala James Stewart/ "Harvey") last week. Pookah joins Pika, our silver MC 06.

I can barely manage to poorly articulate how much I love this car.

In less than 24 hours after taking delivery, I had ripped the front bumper off and dremmelled, drilled and slapped on an aero grill (and it is SOOOOO sweet), ordered multivex mirrors, Zaino polish and aesthetic design stripes, decals, etc. etc. etc. (ala the King and I).

After next weekend I should have enough done to post a few pics.

I've kept Pookah under 4500 RPM for about 500 miles now, and, well, already I can tell this car is Special. Not Carlos Mencia special dee dee dee, but just special as in just WOW WOW WOW WRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

Best to my fellow Sidewalkers et al.,
PIKA PIKA

So that brings up a good question... breaking in a MINI... is it just keeping it under 4500 RPM? I thought you had to go fast/slow fast/slow for 100 miles or so... what's the best way to break in a new car?

P.S. Still scheduled for production... I called 866ASKMINI and they said the same thing. In sooo much pain... can I just wake up and have it at my house already?

I used the same approach that Yo's Dad documents very well here.

Some hard (but NOT wide open throttle) pulls from 30-50mph, then let off throttle and let it coast down. Done several times in the first 100 miles. Otherwise abide by the 4500 rpm limit as much as possible.

Our sidewalk landed in the states yesterday (Thanks to the doc, I was able to track our baby down), and we are anxiously waiting. I'm reading the manual and yo's dad's instructions to figure out what's best for the sidewalk.

This sidewalk is officially my fiance's (soon to be my wife) car. But since she doesn't feel comfortable with stick at first, she asked me to drive it for few months until she feels comfortable. So, I get to break it in! Meanwhile, she's going to drive the Prius.

:P

Count me in. We picked up "Miss Kitty" 2 weeks ago. We live in upstate South Carolina and have already taken her on some great roads in the mountains.

There was a beautiful SS-sidwalk MCSc beside me at the Guiness World Record Run-it was loaded and the guy had just bougth it that week in Maryland-it had very unique matte black and sliver wheels that I have not seen before. You can just see it in the corner of my mirror shot.

Tx Betty- I used to live in Simpsonville, I was just over there during Memorial Day weekend and just my MCS over Altamont Rd on Paris Mt-if you haven't taken your MINI on that road yet-don't miss it!

Thanks for the tip, we'll be sure to try it out. We are fairly new to Greenville. I don't think we've been on that road yet although we have explored a lot of back roads without really knowing where we were. (This is our 2nd mini, we traded in a cherry red and white cooper S coupe for the Sidewalk.)

If there's ONE thing I would change about mine...I would have had the factory nav. That, and maybe a black grille...but then again, I didn't order it, just discovered it on the showroom floor and knew it was destined to be mine..

BTW...she has been named, Carmen San Diego. If any of you remember Where In The World Is Carmen....then you might appreciate the reference...cause this baby is goin everywhere with me!
