ok - I'll install the lights....does anyone know if there are aftermarket's that are better looking / etter design or should I go with the mini ones ?

Any thoughts on the union jack on the door handle?

There are tons of aftermarket driving light options out there. Do a search in the "interior/exterior" mods forums and you'll see tons of examples.

As far as the UJ door handles...if they go with your exterior paint, then cool. Also, they can be done yourself without paying the big labor charge.

Some have found them goofy-looking if they didn't match their paint, however. Something to keep in mind.

There's more How-to's for the driving lights, but that was the first I came across.

Good luck with the dealer-if you can find an 07 on the lot they might be more inclined to deal-but-the MINI dealers are not known for their deal making. These cars hold their value really well-surprisingly well actually.

One thing to consider...if you do not get everything on the list now it can all be added later and you will have some time with the car as it is and might decide that's it's just fine without those things-end result is you save money!
I can totally understand getting it the way you want it but also remember to not let that get in the way.

Don't forget to post pics when you get it!

Hello all - just a quick update. I made some changes to my order (excluded UJ flag's and will install myself - as well as the lights). I''ll post the list below. I will add the lights and Union Jacks myself after I get the car. The Dealer agreed to only charge $1,325 for labor on all the accessories so the car costs $43,000.

Let me know what you think....I am going to order the car this evening

Am I reading: White Bonnet Stripes (installation not incl.) $844 ?? Never mind just saw the reply!!!

If that is true, save the money. the stripes arent as nice as aftermarket, and after market you could do something custom, perhaps a union jack theme...and you can do them for a lot less

Digital POWER Sound Modul (installation not incl.) $1,939
Not familiar with this one.

Other than that...looks good!

I thought stripes were free if you bought a sport package? Maybe since its the Sidewalk they don't include them.

An internet search returned this:

MINI Pumps up the Volume

Updated: We've obtained a bit more information about the DPSM via an internal MINI document you can download here.

MINI UK Press:
The Digital Power Sound Module (DPSM) is the latest and loudest addition to MINI's range of in-car entertainment accessories.
Approximately three times more powerful than the average home stereo, the DPSM has a full range digital amplifier that kicks out an awesome 660 watts of power.
With a whisper measuring around 30 decibels, normal conversation approximately 60 decibels and screams from a concert crowd reaching 126 decibels, the DPSM's ability to produce 128 decibels of sound through its six high performance speakers make it the ultimate in-car accessory for music-mad MINI owners, who like their tunes played loud and clear.
The Digital Power Sound Module is a retro-fit accessory and is priced at £995 including fitting. It can only be fitted in conjunction with Radio BOOST. and is available from any official MINI dealership.
The Digital Power Sound Module is on sale in the UK from 20 October and is available from any official MINI dealership.

Sounds great--I noticed the digital sound pkg includes speakers-will these replace the HK speakers you also ordered??

The digital system is probably really nice but the Harmon Kardon system included in the sidewalk pkg is also very good-I'm not sure you really need 660 watts in a MINI and 2K is kind of a lot to spend and a nice amount to save. Is it possible to hear these two before you order?

DPSM is what Edge currently has going into his car - go read this thread. Much easier and cheaper to do when you order - he's been without his car for FOUR months now while they put it in!

So that's a definite "if you want it, do it NOW" thing!

OCHIE. I read (most) of that post.....don't want to deal with this after market.

There are several things I need/demand of a car - must be fun, topless, fast & have great sound.

Speaking of sound -- does anyone know how the car sounds with the JCW package? when I am at the dealer tonight I'll see if they have one sitting sround with the JCW. I love the sound of a mustang...not sure if this car will purr or roar....

Hmm...someone mentioned the Stripes being included in the sports package - it is, and the Sidewalk package says it includes "everything in the "sports package" I'll need to inquire since it than lists items out and stripes aren't one of them. But it does say it includes "sparkling Silver paint (also avail. in pepper white, astro black, british racing green)" since it stipulates the green I choose I might be able to have them lower it by $450 ... I like the sounds of that :-)

Its the supercharger, but a stock Cooper S will have that too. I dunno if the JCW will sound any different, I've never heard one in person before.

So far, I dislike the manual seats and the garage door opener being on the rearview mirror. if it sounds like those cars in the movie it might be a deal breaker...funny thing to get hung up on I know -- but thats just me. I wonder if I can swap out the exhaust after market for something more with a growl.....Í'll do internet searches - but I leave in less than 2 hours to go to the dealership !! UGH

It's a supercharged 4 cylinder so a mustang like rumble isn't really in the cards. These cars have a very nice burble exhaust note.

I agree you shouldn't have to pay extra for the BRG if it's part of the sidewalk pkg- and the stripes might not be the best with that pkg as it has it's own distinct look. It sounds like you have some reservations and are kind of rushing into this, maybe you should slow down a little, look at some other choices and then decide, don't get rushed into something you won't like 6 months from now.

For a sidewalk, I think a set of the first stripes on this page (minus the roof stripes obviously) would look killer.

I wasn’t exactly jumping for joy over the pricing :-( For 2008 the colder weather jumps from 300 to 500 and the convenience package from 400 to 500. The Aero kit that I really like is $1,350 but the dealership wants another 1,325 to install it !! the driving lamps are $400 and they want an additional $495 to install them !! Union Jack on the door handle is $115 and they want an additional 685 to install them...thats all additional too, not the total cost on each item !!! there are others that I don’t car to go into. Total cost is now 43K.....I dunno, I just dunno.
I got quite a bit in mine. See below. Nothing close to a Just-a-Cooper.
This is one quick roadster and a head turner at that. I paid $30,950.00
The only item I did not get was leather. I have the two-tone plether.
I thought it might bother me having always leather, but having every other bell and whistle I wanted, I just don't think about it. It was on the show room floor as their featured car and I bought it. $500 off MSRP plus free rubber mats. Buy a car for what you want now... not what you can sell it for later.
It is all about enjoying the ride. Motor On !

I originally ordered my S with the SIDEWALK... but the factory REFUSED to make it with the bonnet stripes....

hard to believe...

had to reconfigure the order... sadly as well thought the sidewalk package definitly was sweet... specially the rims
