Probably not. The sweep of air around the sides of the car and from the bottom is what causes the shmutziness.
On a separate note, besides looking kind of cool, I doubt the wing does much for handling with the top up or down. It would be interesting to know for sure, though.

Check out this thread for all the information on the spoiler.

It is a full 3 piece spoiler with the center piece attaching to the boot. The center piece is light enough that it doesn't create problems when opening or closing the boot.
And, YES, I did have to drill holes to mount it.
It does affect air flow. By how much...is still up for debate but I can tell you that last Saturday I was up in the Sierras with REMI club and we hit some snow/slush. The rear end stayed pretty clean. Aside for this, it really is cosmetic as I don't think it helps with down force (or at least not that I've noticed).
I've been working on the center piece with the integrated 3rd brake light but it has taken me a while to complete...Yada, yada, yada... I just have to smooth it out and get it painted. But at the rate I'm going with this project, it might as well be next year. I'll post some pics when I have it primered.

Thanks CooperGear,
I looked at that spoiler but it just didn't look right to me. I wanted something that would flow with the body and thus the 3 piece wrap-round.
I suppose it could be used with the cabrio. It looks like the mounting points would work.
I'll post some more pics of the rear spoiler as well as the new one (unfinished) with the third brake light.

Here is the center piece with the third brake light, keep in mind it's not finished yet:
The third brake light comes in two pieces, 1) the LED strip 2) the housing. The LED strip fits into the housing and the housings goes in the opening of the spoiler. The housing is also custom made to fit the spoiler and will have to be secured to the spoiler via automotive glue, screws or bonded in place. I still have not decided on which will be the best option.
In the first picture, the LED strip is already in the housing. On all three pictures there is a black area next to the housing opening on the spoiler. That's just the gelcoat (epoxy fiberglass finish) and that's the color it comes out of the mold with. I had done some sanding and thus the difference in color.
