I'm a little late here. I was giving my camera a moisturizing treatment at Mid-Ohio.

Matt I know you loved Nano, but Nano is gone. I think trying to recreate Nano is not doable. It just won't be Nano.

That being said I think you should get that wonderful Jimi Hendrix drop top. It's a stunner.

Do I hear the theme of "Outer Limits" in the background.

Even with the silver dash, were your door ovals purple? Looks that way in your photos...

Wow, it's the first time I've seen those photos of Londo's MINI. It's a very serious custom interior. Many parts painted and both front and rear seats were redone.

Yes, the ovals were painted in a lighter purple to offset the purple on the doors. And the dash is panited white. I'm still working on the interior, I've put on a chrome interior kit after I took these pictures.

So you had the ovals painted or did they come purple? I ask because the previus owner of my car did gray, but I can't tell if he did the doors as wekll as the dash from his photo:

EDIT : I take it back... I can just make out a silver door oval on the right side. Sorry...

LONDO: Where are you in relation to LA? I'll be there on or about the 7th to get the car and maybe we can meet. I actually get your name and quote (Bab5 ROCKS!) and I'd love to meet you and take photos of our cars together...

you know... typically I'm not up for touchy feely mini owner ship stories... but this one is shaping out to be pretty damn cool.

congrats man. sounds like it was kinda meant to be... well everything except nano being laid to rest... but the rest of it makes a very good feel good story.

Glad to hear you found a new LED Mounting Platform!
BEPH is my second favorite color as well - it was tough to choose between an IB'04 and PH'05.

The 2K drive will be a nice 'getting to know you' trip. I did 3K in mine.
If you go the indirect route and head up the coast, we can put you up in Santa Cruz...
It's still a nice time to cruise Hwy1.

Goodbye Nano hello Dawn

Hello All

My name is Larry, Dawn was my wife and "Dawn" is (for a short time) my car. This is my first post of any kind. I am stunned and amazed at the outpouring of encouragement for Matt and Cara and for the story of Dawn.

I saw Nano today for the first time. What a car! I know Dawn will be a worthy replacement.

Keep Dawn alive, I know this story will just to the many great memories of my wife.

Thank you all,

Larry

Wow.... thanks for stopping by, Larry... I'm sure Dawn would have found her way in here eventually - MINI folks are very friendly and love meeting new motoring enthusiasts, and she likely would have had an invitation card slipped under the windshield wiper sooner or later. I like to think that she would have enjoyed the spirit of camaraderie that exists here.

As for "Dawn" (the car), if it's any help, I'm sure that it will be (like Nano) one of the more excessively documented MINIs on NAM (Nano certainly was), and I hope that you end up enjoying the MODs I'll put on the car.

I'll be sure to keep in touch, and if you or your family are ever anyplace east of the Mississippi, please drop me a line so we can meet and share a meal. If you ever come into possession of another MINI, I hope you'll ind your way back here - you'll always be very, very welcome.

I'm looking forward to meeting you in November to pick up the car!

Congratulations! Excellent choice, and great story. At 5K miles, your new PH MINI already has an endearing legacy.

I don't know what the rules are about ownership, but I would hope you would be welcome here any time, Larry. Maybe I need to up my Zoloft prescription, but I couldn't stop the tears and chills, when I read this story. Our deepest sympathy goes out to you in your loss. Hopefully, knowing so many prayers and good thoughts are going your way may make the days pass a little easier. Best wishes, david

We've all been following this story and it is a great one!!! Matt and Kara are personal friends and I can assure you Miss Dawn will be well cared for and loved. As has been said before...if you ever come this way to visit Dawn and family there will be a welcoming crowd.

Welcome to NAM Larry. I am very sorry to hear about your loss, and hope you can move on quickly if not eventually. I don't know Matt personally, but have been following Nano since the early summer when I decided to buy a mini and was lucky enough to stumble into this forum. In my opinion, you could not sell your car to a person who will take better care of it. Nano was special, and Dawn will have the best of homes. Thanks for taking the time to say hello. Regards, Jon

So meant to be. I can't wait to see how Dawn ends up looking after mods.

And I agree, Larry could not be selling "Dawn" to someone who would take better care of her.

Pleas excuse me i I offend anyone, but OMG, I am in love. Now my wife wants a clubman redone in Pink to match your purple.

It's been a crazy week, and somehow I MISSED this whole thread until now. Wow. Just wow. Another legendary story in MINIville. I'm in tears reading it.

By the way, that's my FAVORITE color... wish it had been an option when I ordered Blimey...

Wow. I gotta go to bed. I'm a wreck.
