I would recommend the 660 or the 700 series.
The 700 series allows you to preload routes which comes in handy for MINI outtings.
You should be able to pickup a 600/700 series for around $400 more than that and you paying too much.
Also don't forget to load your MINI Cooper SRF images so that you'll have a MINI on the screen instead of some lame car.
Note: MINI Cooper image files do not come with Garmin GPS you must download them from the internet.

I am probably going to MTTS Chicago. I have arranged coverage at work. Now just trying to convince my motoring partner. Can't come all the way from Florida with just one MINI!
But this will be much more expensive for me, since I have been blatantly told by everyone who did the Miami to Boston run (at least as far as Philly) that under no circumstances was I allowed to attend another MINI event without a GPS!!! So, David....run that by me again....I need a Garmin Nuvi 600 series? Can't I get by with a 200 series?? I don't want it to make the coffee for me, just show me where to go.

I have the Garmin 660 but the 700 series is much better because you can preload up to 10 routes
which comes in real handy for MINI drives (ie, The Dragon and surrounding areas).
I bought my 660 for @ $500 and if you're a Samsclub member or know someone that is you can pickup the even better 750 for $299.
This is the unit I would get today if I hadn't already spent more a couple of years ago for a lesser unit.
Now if you really want to be on the cutting edge of technology you should look at
the voice activated Garmin 800 series, but be prepared to pay around $900.

Cabriopilot, I should have said that I was already set on the Nuvi 760 w/ bluetooth, etc. I ordered one from Amazon the other night for $388.06 (free shipping)! I already have the appropriate Kuda mount (bought it about a month ago "just in case" ). As well, I downloaded the SRF images a few months ago, so I should be all set. Now I can't wait for it to get here!

Which ship is shipping...?
Greetings all...exciting week, our BRG has now changed to "EN ROUTE"....woohoo. Quick question, how do I know on which ship and how can I track? I have noticed that some folks know the name of the ship. My dealer did not have any information for me. It seems, at times, that I know more than them...hmmmmmm. Anyway, we are totally excited! Thanks!

I prefer the double badge holder because it doesn;t require sticking anything directly on the car. No worries about scratches, etc.

Just got mine last month!
Just got mine last month! New to the club. Dig the color of Wellington!
2008 Mini Cooper S Convertible Sidewalk
Name: still in progress
Location: Hilton Head Island, SC
Astro Black 6sp
Age: mid 30s
Only stock mods - check side mirrors and white sport stripe
Best reaction to the car was at the grocery store by a mullet-sporting gentleman with his NASCAR shirt holding a case of beer said: "That car is sharp as s#%&!" I said "thanks"
I'm thinking of doing some engine mods for more speed but I'm concerned about my gas mileage going down the tubes. Anyone know if this happens with ordinary driving. Yes, I know when you floor it gas mileage is of little concern, but for average commuting, is there a difference?
Thanks

Welcome jmag - 041 LOVE THOSE STRIPES & CHECKS!!!
Nice MINI SPFZERO!
We made another Minneapolis to Denver run this week for our son's wedding Friday. WHAT A GREAT CAR! I love it! We'll be in the mountains on the weekend, then back home via the Black Hills.
We have the NUVI 260W, and I like the wide format screen. I bought it about a month ago in Chicago on a business trip, after Mapquest messed me up. It was a good value, and it does a great job, but I probably should have upgraded up to get Bluetooth.

Our first "in person" compliment on Wellington came from a homeless guy in front of 7-11 who just said "that's one sharp car!" (imagine toothless grin)

Did you get the wax off the black trim? (long ago post)
I was amazed had how long it took to tape - and how many areas need to be taped! It took longer to tape than to wax and buff but, I'll do it again.

We didn't quite make Amarillo by morning (up from San Antone) but with a little luck we'll be in Eaton (north of Denver) before the day is out. I never imagined that we'd be in the Sidewalk instead of the big tree SUV. So far we've been relatively comfortable.
I misplaced my blue tape this morning at 3:00 am so it's bug splat city but no rocks so far.
White spots on trim mostly came out, but I need a little more elbow grease.

The centerpiece of our Colorado trip, the Foo Fighters at Red Rocks, was cancelled!
We're making the best of it, visiting family and seeing the sites. We drove top down today through Loveland, Estes Park, and Rocky Mountain National Park. We drove the Trail Ridge Road up 11,000 feet above sea level.
I swear I could hear our MINI singing "Born Free."

We're back! MINIs do like the mountains! We will have to be back next year for "MINIs in the Mountains"
We based out of Breckenridge, and also enjoyed trips to Copper, Independence Pass to Aspen, Glenwood Springs (what canyon!) and Vail before the trip home through eastern Wyoming and the Black Hills. Almost 3,000 miles and as many smiles. (We also were in Denver for our son's wedding, which was fantastic ).
some pics:
Independence Pass 12,093 ft. (we did top down alll the way, but put it up while we walked around) see below on the way down to Aspen
