Sacha - when you get your car Friday, I think you should immediately hit the west side hwy, and head up to the Henry Hudson or Sawmill River pkwy - those roads will give you a chance to see how your baby handles (but skip out of work so you can be on the road before 3:00 when everybody else runs away for the weekend). Have fun.
oops - Banjo is in NYC, I forgot you're not - might be a long drive to the Henry Hudson for you

Finally saw a White Silver Sidewalk!
Well, I finally got to see a White Silver Sidewalk today (but I'm still looking forward to seeing XBass's this weekend)!
When we ordered from our dealer, we told the sales guy (I've decided that I can't use the word "Advisor" in describing anyone at the dealership) that we really wished we could see a White Silver in person. He mentioned that they were really rare. I tracked one down in NM, one in MD, and one in CA. The dealers in NM and MD emailed me pictures even though they knew I wasn't going to be a customer. When we were in the Bay Area a couple of weeks ago, I found that East Bay MINI had one, and we were tempted to drive a couple of hours just to see it.
Well, imagine our surprise when we stopped at the dealer to pick up some paperwork today and saw a White Silver Sidewalk (unlike ours auto and not an "S") on the lot. We stopped the manager and asked him about it, mentioning that we had one on order and had asked to be called if they ever saw one. He commented that it "has only been here for a few days, we got it from another dealer." My wife was that they hadn't even made an attempt to call us, despite the fact that I've talked to the aforementioned "sales guy" three times this week! We even had to ask the manager to get the keys so we could check out the inside and see it with the top down.
So much for service! Of course when I went inside to pick up the paperwork that was waiting for me from "the sales guy" I said hello to him by name, asked how he was doing, any plans for his day off tomorrow, and then asked if he had the paperwork for me. His response? "Uh... what's your name?" I told him, adding "...the guy buying a $35,000 car from you."

And a Black Sidewalk!
Okay, happy news after my rant above!
On our way home after the dealer we were driving along Broadway in Denver and I noticed a black/black MCS Cabrio in a parking lot on the other side of the street (top up). It took a couple of seconds for my brain to register, but then i realized it also had sidewalk wheels!
Unfortunately by then I was driving through some construction so I couldn't double back to see...

Welcome gemgirlpa!
Hallo other Sidewalk veterans.
I've been busy lately, closing out the school year. Glad to see the thread is alive and full of malt brown Sidewalk goodness! Hey SPF ZERO! We'll be up in July, visiting sis north of Denver, and then heading to Red Rocks to see the Foo Fighters. (Maybe to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon on the way home, if the economy doesn't tank much more). I'm not sure if the MINI will make the trek. I might be forced to drive the big tree SUV, like we did a couple of summers back. I'm hoping to pack light and enjoy the sights and roads MINI-style. You'll have to give me some suggestions, if we make it up there in the MINI.

Ya know, I'm thinking that we could plan a Sidewalk Owners' get together for sometime later this year (or maybe we should start planning on something for 2009. Maybe we could have our own annual get together or something tied to one of the other MINI events.
Any thoughts?

Two weeks into loving my MINI and she now has a name and a couple of mods.
We've now decided to call her Crumpet. She had to have a title that just said; I'm English. Heck, she was born here and I broke her in here in the UK after all.
Last weekend I installed a European parcel shelf. I like these, it gives you that needed little bit of extra storage.
I also installed the UK version tail light. The US Spec ones that came on Crumpet were all red with red turn signals. The UK spec version has amber turn signals. It's just one of those things that I think are safer.
She's now at the dealer for the next week getting things fixed that were wrong or damaged from the factory.

In MD now - looking for apts in NYC for June, and my parents are on LI.
BTW - look out for those taxis - I had my MCC Sidewalk for 1 month and a cab decided he didn't want to go into the Holland Tunnel from Varick at the last second - drove straight in a right-turn-only lane and into my passenger door! $2000 and two weeks to fix it!

I had to drop Crumpet off at the local dealer for some repairs/factory flaws and what did I come across, but a black leather Sidewalk. It was a Cooper, non-S, in Astro Black.
I walked right by it initially and didn't realize it was a Sidewalk.
I really think it's strange that the seats on the UK Sidewalks have a slightly different pattern to them. Notice the whole center seat portion is pleated. I can't figure out why they make them different.
The bottom of the steering wheel and the gear shift are in Malt Brown

UK Version?
I thought there was only one country version. When I saw Ubique's black Sidewalk picture I noticed the trim pattern on the seats. I had not noticed that on other pictures in the thread the seat pattern is different. Here is a picture of mine. Is this consistent with a US version or UK?
