R52 Just go an '07 cabrio as loaner...some questions

I had heard that version before, also. And have heard other folks talk about inadvertent opening of windows and sunroof... my office is far enough from my parking space that it couldn't happen to me... and hasn't happened anywhere else to me... but I can see how it COULD happen in certain situations...
that apparently has the ability to open the garage door from almost a 1/4 mile away.
Can't tell you how many times I've been washing the MINI and when I bend down the garage door opens or closes.
Maybe I should impress my neighbors by doing one of those (Russian?) dances where you squat down and kick your feet out.
And then they can watch the garage door open/close and my MINI top go up and down.
After all if I can't dazzle them with my brilliance, then maybe I can baffle them with my BS.

Well I don´t really think it would represent a security issue. In mine at least, when you press the key button once it opens both door locks, you have to press a second time for the "sunroof" to open but you have to keep pressed for at least a couple of seconds. Then you have to press a third time and leave for at least 10 seconds for the top tocompletely open. I think that it would be very difficult for that secuence to be done accidentaly.
By the way, my owners manual includes a section on "convenience opening" being a standard option. Mine is a 2008 sidewalk version which in Mexico is loaded up with standard packages that in the USA are optional. So maybe in the US is different. However, I would ask around in the dealership. As I mentioned earlier, in mine nobody but the shop guy knew that they could program the key with that feature.

I recently discovered this when we were at a tech day last w/e at an indie Euro shop in NJ and they did a quick diagnostic to find out why one of our member's "follow-me-home" lights weren't working. No promises, but it can't hurt to try.
