Headlight leveling?

my 07 S cabrio has HID lights, but i rarely see them level themselves. in fact when i first got the car i was disappointed they didn't do the little "up-down" thing like BMWs when you first start them.

at its first service last week i had the dealer turn on the daytime running lights and was shocked to see that they do the little "up-down" thing when i first crank the car.

seems a little odd that they would do it, but not the HIDs. surely the DRL don't self level do they?

the whole assembly that holds the high beam/drl & lo beam is one piece. so if you see it do it on the drl's then it does it on the regular lights too. if you arent seeing it happening it's likely that you're on level ground when you are "looking" for it to happen

gotcha. odd that i can see the DRLs do it but not the HIDs. and yeah, its usually in my garage which is pretty level.

where is the sensor that determines if the ground is level or not?

there's 2 sensors, one in front right, one in the rear left, both under the car.

turn them on in the driveway next time instead of in the garage

Try turning on your headlights before starting the car. You'll see them flip up. I think they self-level at startup regardless of whether the headlights are on or off.
