bike rack reviews?

Does anyone here have the sport link with the bike rack hooked up to their convertible?
How much did you pay?
Did you install it yourself?
Likes/dislikes?

thanks!

Hey Eric,

I have the sport link and I would have to say on a scale of 1-10, I give it about an 8. It is easy on, easy off the car, but depending on the type of bike(s) you will be carrying, they can be a little cumbersome getting on and off. You may want to look at the 'minidomore' hitch with the platform bike rack mainly for ease of use. How many bike(s) will you be carrying. The s-link maxes at 2.

I didn't pay anything for it, I them to throw that into the deal when I was haggling with the dealership. I think they retail for around $500 plus labor.

Enjoy!!

I have have the sport link with the bike rack. I agree with Zipimini, the rack is cumbersome to load and unload your bike. I went ahead and bought a couple of Saris frame adapters and clamped them onto the rack (I don't ever take them out now). The frame adapters have been positioned to accept both my road bike on the first one and my wife's beach cruiser on the second. It is now much easier to get the bikes on and off. The only inconvenience is that I bungie the bike to the rack to keep it from swinging.

Hey Bob,

Do you have a pic of the sardis adapters?? I'd love to figure out an easier way to load the bikes.

I also have the Sportlink. I had it dealer installed upon delivery. Getting the bikes on and off can be a pain but I am able to fit both road bikes and trial bikes on it. It is also best to remember to get what you need from the boot before you attach the rack. You can open the boot but just enough to get your hand in. It does tilt down but with bikes loaded it is a pain.

You definitely want to remember to secure the bikes to the rack and the front tire in place as well. Otherwise you can end up with some paint damage.

One minor annoyance for me is when the bikes are loaded they are always int he way of the backup sensors. So as long as you are backing up it is whining at you.
