Now this will sink your heart big time..

Went to the local MINI dealer to play in the convertibles. We drove a Astro Black one for about 25 minutes. Came back and went inside to give the keys back to the salesman. My son comes rushing in and says to hurry outside to look at my car..

I went outside where my Subaru BAJA sat. It was keyed.

There is not enough anger in the world to describe what I felt. WHY????????

Because its dark blue? I had a black car before and it too was keyed, not once but twice.

I seriously hate people. I understand why people go on rampages..

That is such a bummer! A lovely woman I work with finally bought a beautiful little car (it's not a MINI so I don't know WHAT it is!) and within a month, someone had keyed it. No reason at all. We assume someone with an attitude was just jealous. It's sad. I like to think life/karma/fate will get those people at some point.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. Obviously it was someone with NO respect for any type of cars. I hope you can at least buff some or all of it out. Good luck!

PS: If it's any consolation, Door dings are my pet peeve. I live on a campus where students don't have ANY respect for other cars. I have gotten numerous door dings because people fling their doors open and MINI doors have no protection like some other cars do.

Good luck!

The scary part about it was I think it might have been one of the MINI employees that were outside on a picket line. There was ONE person in the dealership working and the mechanics for the BMW and MINI dealership were all outside picketing. I spoke with them for awhile and then went on a test drive.

Yeah, I work for a University and that's why I'm looking into a reserved spot on campus. $250 for the school year, but hopefully it'll protect the MINI.

If you really want to pursue the person(s) who did it, it's possible they were caught on camera. All dealerships have security cams nowadays looking into their lots. Some are good enough to zoom in and make out facial features. If you're lucky, they were caught on cam and if they're employees of the dealership you can certainly have them recognized and then you can make their life hell.

Sorry to hear about this and wishing for the best.

Oh no! That is a very sad story

Hopefully you have a $0.00 Comprehensive deductible on your insurance. It won't even go against your policy, and you can get it fixed tootsweet.

Guessing this was at MINI of Mountain View, unless there are other dealerships with the service team on strike?

Exactly what I was going to post. I'd surely check with the dealership and ask to view their tapes/dvds. If they or yourself see something call the local police to come view it with you. Most all dealerships have these cameras and they are usually excellent quality which may work in your favor.

Ah yes, but if it might implicate one of their workers (even though they were picketing against the dealership) they may not give up the recordings....

And just to give you guys another thought...those kinds of scratches may be made by careless folks, but with things like backpacks or something in their hands. I'm with you on the suspecting one of the picketers (did you p**s them off before you test drove maybe?) But you never know...

I hate idiots. Especially the ones who drive while on the cell phone.

no accident here. The marks are made with some sort of scribe or box cutter. The same day, they had a convertible's roof slashed.

Stupid dealer

That would be correct. Soured me big time on buying a MINI.. Who knows what they would do to it if I brought it back to them for servicing.

They need to do something at that dealership big time or its going to go bye bye.

I don't think they could refuse to turn over potential evidence of a crime if you and/or the police pushed the matter.

If it did turn out to be an employee, surely their common sense would tell them to make him an ex-employee, and be glad he's gone.

I would hope so! And Mini1966, don't let this sour you on Minis...the poor things didn't do it - just those sad sacks that can't figure out propriety.
