R52 Convincing the SO a Cabrio is safe...

I agree with eager2own. You will get a lot of attention from people in a cabrio. They are very unique cars indeed!
MINIs are basically on rails so you shouldn't have rollover issues. Why don't you try asking for a Kawasaki Ninja and then ask her if you can get a cabrio. Thats 'door-in-the-face' phenomenon for you!

Nice. The 335i is a very nice car, and I'm sure it drives like a dream, but I don't think I have it in me to buy a BMW. Its an image thing...hard to explain. Yes I know BMW owns MINI but owning a MINI is not the same as owning a BMW. Get the MINI!

X2. The 135 is a fantastic car. I just can't get over the workaday look.
On European delivery - we did it on my wife's BMW a few years ago. Fun, but really only if you don't get over there very often.

The guys who do that have WAY too much fun.

R52: Up side down in the old days
In mid-May in Germany. Panic broke under the MINI fresh air fans. The ADAC, the (still current) MINI Cabrio and two of his rivals' cross. The result was hardly surprising experts. The media is even more resonance. The bigblogg analysis with some time lag.
Rock'n roll in the ADAC technical centre in Landsberg
Certainly, the images of the above videos are frightening and the editorial staff would also bigblogg nothing verharmlosen: Who with a MINI Cabrio a transitional shock, has an increased risk of injury and a reduced chance of survival.

Rollover with nearly 1.3 tonnes: Since no abstützen help with the hand more
But despite the shocking images would like bigblogg not - as the big media houses mirror, Springer and Co. - in the Horn encounter and the successful convertibles of small class condemn, but question why what is actually tested.
Today, no more cars on the street without a Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program) crash test passed it. Such as the convertibles ADAC tests. The Peugeot 207 CC won the 5, the Citroen Pluriel 4 and the old New MINI (to 11/2006) in the Hatch version also 4 stars. In short: There are three vehicles used in the popular opinion as safe. And those three Super Minis should suddenly Genickbrecher dangerous? Yes, if you over. But that poses the question: What is today still a chance such a blow to the cause? From researchers view apparently not very high, why else since 1996, the existing Association of European transport ministries, automobile clubs and transport associations, the Euro NCAP carries out until today no standard for a transitional impact crash test defined so that one of the most influential traffic clubs this association, ADAC, the standard set by the U.S. FMVSS 208 (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard) behelfen had? It seems, then, that an offset crash much more often counted in the statistics, as the spectacular Seitwärtsrolle. Even from a technical point of view, the risk of Überschlags in this class of the producers on an astonishing level has been reduced: ABS, all three candidates, an electronic stability program (ESP / DSC) is tested for the convertibles available, if not series.
What remains is the most dangerous factor in the car: the man. And there can only be in the ownership appeliert. With raised fingers adapted to a speed refer bigblogg want in this context does not, however, because one thing is clear: The convertible driver drives to enjoy and not to race, right?
The rest will happen sooner or later anyway by the EU or the regelenmentiert ADAC polemisiert - alas!

Thanks for that test video link Eager, that's a fantastic result imo! The thing that amazed me and the wife is that the a pillars DID NOT crush!!! They totally crushed in my sebring (very similar to the blue car in the video). I was truly lucky I was thrown out, otherwise I would've been toast. I feel MUCH better getting strapped in the MINI now.
For those of you crash fanatics, here's what my former car looked like after the rollover:

I still can't believe I walked away from that.

But, back on topic: when people hem and haw about 'verts, I fire back "What? You don't like to feel young and sexy?" and prey on their insecurities. However, this may not be such a good idea with your S.O.
