You can go onto the MINIUSA site and configure a new car with similar options and know what it would cost new. These cars hold their value as good as any car made, so factor that in when comparing. Current base price on an S convertable is over $26K, so you probably did ok.
Either way there's nothing to do now but enjoy your purchase.

I was by the MINI dealer the other day and noticed that the price of a new MCS Cabrio just like mine has gone up quite a bit since I bought mine a year ago.
So if you paid 18k for yours then consider yourself having saved almost 50% when compared to some of the new ones.
And thats great when you consider that a MINI doesn't really lose much value.

You sure you don't know that you got a great deal? You just here bragging and showing off? And when you say "out the door" do you mean tax included? If so then that is an absurdly low price.
That is a very good deal for a 2005 S cabriolet. I don't see many Members telling you that, but here in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles that car would be selling for $20 to $24k. I know because I just bought my used 2006 non-S and I was looking for two months at prices, S and not.
On my 2006 I got it because having a long remaining MINI warranty was paramount. Mine had 23,000 miles and was put in service in June 2006. So that gives me 27,000 miles or two full years left on the bumper to bumper warranty.
Yours has 7,000 miles left on the 50,000 mile warranty, did you still have some time left on the 48 month warranty? Assuming it was put in service some time in late 2004 to 2005, should have. If you have a MINI warranty on it, that is an additional bonus, IMHO.
I'd drive the heck out of it so to see if anything is needed. Also make sure to take it in for a few final checkups before the warranty runs.
I am a tightwad when it comes to getting cars. IMHO the deal you got gives you bragging rights. That's how I see it. But I suspect you posted this with a big grin on your face.
