Who wants my Sports Seats?

My Sports Seats are killing my back. Who wants to trade or sell me a set of nice standard Fabric seats for my '05 MCC nice leatherette ones? The Sport Seats knock my back out of adjustment getting in and out. It is costing me a fortune at the Chiropractors.

Let me know what convertible seats you have and we can exchange pictures if interested.

If we are able to meet I can change them out in less than an hour. Prefer East Coast & Midwest, but talk to me.

You might want to search the threads [using NAM search] for "cloth seats"

I recall seeing some Members posting that they wanted to get leatherette in exchange for their cloth.

Can't recall where I saw it though.

There are a lot of threads out there and I have sent PMs in chasing leads, but so far have not found a match. There are some swap opportunities out there, but I have not found any seats that are Non-Sports (standard) seats in Cloth/fabric in good condition that will fit an '05 Convertible. If I am missing a connection somewhere, please give me a lead. Thanks!

Have you posted a Want to Buy [WTB] in the classifieds section? That might shake something out of the trees.

There's also other MINI forums, Craig's List and a host of used MINI parts sites. Maybe even salvage yards.

Somewhere out there there is a MINI owner with cloth who wants leatherette. But you may need to consider buying used seats and selling yours separately.

When I was looking locally for some used tires [less than 3000 miles] it took about two weeks then something popped up. Found them on Craig's List.

Don't know what's near you in that regard, but keep looking. Here is the CL Florida sites:

Michael thanks again for your thoughts and ideas.

I do have a WTB/ Trade in the classifieds. Nothing yet. Used seats seem to be $200-400 and have been nasty so far. I have been looking at Craig's List but am not finding Mini seats so far. I'm going to start calling around to dealers to see if they have any leads.

I believe the best way to find my seats is by calling the various companies that are redoing seats for mini owners. I might be able to swap someone before they have their seats redone and they could upgrade to my Sports Seats. ANYBODY KNOW OF COMPANIES MODIFYING STOCK SEATS?

I really want a complete set of standard seats in cloth for my cabrio. The cabrio has locks on the rear seatbacks and are a different size.

Thanks everybody!

That's funny because I was just telling a friend of mine how much better my back feels driving my MINI with sport seats. While getting in and out are still a little bit of a challenge, driving while sitting in them are great.

The side bolsters hold me firmly in the seat, the bolster between the legs is very comfortable. And every time I turn around to back up I get massive "crackage" in my back and really loosens me up. I love my sport seats but hope you enjoy your regular seats when you get them.

I had the same problem, but had the front of the seats cranked up too high. Get the front down a bit and you'll be fine.

Thanks guys for the comments. I can guarantee you that after 6 minis that this one is cranked down and back. Keep the inquiries and suggestions coming. My trade is out there somewhere.

what color is your leatherette? I live in pittsburgh, Pa. Not really that close, but I'm def interested in a trade. I have Standard black cloth seats in my 06 MCC.

I assume you want to trade the front and rear, so we would have matching sets?

Hi! I sent you a PM. Color is gray and black with no stains or sagging. Yes, I'm interested in trading entire sets so they would match. Am thinking about taking the mini on the train up to DC in early October so that would be closer.

Jon, I sent you an email. We may actually meet you in DC as my wife has never been there before. Assuming you will be there over a weekend.

The OP wants to get rid of his leatherette seats, in exchange for fabric.

Thanks for the continuing help. I'm getting closer to finding someone who wants to trade. I am looking for standard CLOTH/FABRIC non-sports seats.

Here are some pix.

I believe the scuff on the left side of the rear shoulder belt will come off.

Saw this on eBay, don't know if they will fit your car. But if they do, you could swap and sell yours. Maybe they have the rear too, if you ask. They seem to be parts sellers.

HUH? I thought the OP was clear, about three times, that he wants to exchange his [now pictured] leatherette seats for cloth seats. In case he does not respond, those are HIS seats.

Hi all! And thanks again Michael for watching out for this ex-SFOer. Checked out the Ebay seats you suggested and they look nice, but would be over $1K with shipping and won't fit my '05 Cabrio. Someone else with a need might like them. They probably need better pics however.

Keep those cards and letters coming. Appreciate the assist in finding those Fabric seats to fit an '05 MCC! THANKS!

Still looking for a trade of regular seats for sports seats.

Anybody have a Gen II standard seat in leatherette grey/black that wants to trade for front sports seats in excellent condition? Let me know. I am in S. FLorida but readying to head to the Midwest. What do you have?
Thx
JON

What is the exact difference between sport and standard seats that causes a problem for you? I'm thinking that a car seat upholsterer may be able to modify it to your needs.

I am tall and wide and the bolster hits my spine when I get in or out and the support is not correct. I put a vibrating cushion and sheep skin in the pit of the seat and it helps, but does not work very well and raises me up to where I can barely see out the windshield. The new Gen II seats work better for me or just the regular Non-Sport. I'm not worried about falling out of the seat on turns. THX

Hi all!

One last try for a trade prior to going into the upholstery shop to have the seats redone.

Thanks!
