Pet Peeves

I realize there were postings of Pet Peeves some time ago but I thought I would restart the thread.
1. What's with the horn? I would have thought the engineers could have come up with something a bit more original sounding. I swear, it sounds like a Ford.
2. Perhaps its just my car but the seat belt retraction spring on the driver's side has gotten very weak. Increasingly I find that I have to be careful in closing the door to ensure I don't accidentally get the latch caught between the rocker panel and the door.
3. Why didn't they raise the rear view mirror one inch? Coming down a hill on a curve there is a big blind spot at 1 o'clock, enough to block out a good sized truck. One inch higher would have been possible and resulted in a marginal improvement in rear visibility as well.

Pull the seat belts slowly all the way and make sure they retract flat and don't curl up or fold over. Once you do it a few times and break the old folds it will work a lot better. I also made a long straw (4 straws put together) on a WD 40 can and sprayed the bottom of the seat belt rollers. I agree with the horn and you can also add the turn signals, they sound cheep.

I'm thankful that the horn doesn't just go beep beep like the old VW bugs. The horn seems loud enough to get someone's attention while talking on a cell phone in a big slow SUV....

I'll try that seatbelt roller idea; it works my nerves, 2.

I'm 4EVER hitting the DSC toggle whenever I want 2 raise/lower the driver's side window.

The list is very short for me, but the heater (actually the fan) is lousy. Even set on high (4) it doesn't move much air, can hear it but hardly feel much set on 2 or 3. I could have more cold weather top down time if I could get more warm air.

I guess if I have to, obviously the visibility when the top is up, but so far that has only been a couple of days. My real pet peeve are people in my way now!! Almost every time I get on a good twisty, I got some big SUV or worse in front of me

My wife just got the R52 in October...Wow! I like it and I don't like it!

The perfect MINI is taking half of the R56/57 and R52 and mash them together...I love the interior and handling of the R52; but I love the kick and ride of the R56. The R55 has the best MPG...

I like the horn sound! sounds meaner than one would think coming from a small car like the MINI. really grabs people's attentions

I don't like the only way to use the front defrosters is on full blast. WTF, it gets crazy loud. I guess this doesn't pertain to the R52 only though.

About the only beef I have with this great little car is that when we're out motoring, for some reason folks want to tailgate...and they look AWFUL big back there. It's worse at night, the headlights always look like they're on high beam.

I just pull over and let 'em pass...or downshift and scream out of sight!
