For suspension/wheels, I have : 18x8 polished wheel with 215/35R18 with a 22mm rear sway at the maximum setting. But, with those wheels and the bad roads we got in Quebec, I think 16x7 with 205/45R16 will be a better choice.
I think after my re-tune, my MINI will be around 250hp at the bloc (or even more).
I agree with the 16" wheel choice..MUCH better. Even here in CT, I'm thinking about eventually swapping out my 17" wheels for the 16s.
I would also think you might want to add some underbody bracing, to help counteract all that POWER...it will make the wheels stick to the road much nicer!
Just look at the IE lower strut brace because it's the same as the MINI-Madness brace and it's $34.00 cheaper...
IE and Mini Madness have a steel version, but check out MiniMania, they give you choice between the steel version and an aluminum one, for about (30?) bucks more. Not sure if you've seen that one. Might be worth it for the fanatics like me--a little lighter, and rust resistant on top of it.
I would get the steel...aluminum is like trying to catch the Great White Shark on a 10LB Test Line.
Aluminum has great strength to weight properties from what I remember. I'm no expert in metallurgy, but it seems to me that it could be at least a little lighter, and corrosion resistant too....all good things, no?
