Exhaust Question

I know this is a well-discussed topic, but I can't find an answer to my specific question. I'm shopping for exaust systems for my 06 S model and noticed that some manufacturers list a specific system for the convertible because of the additional bracing under the car (Milltek, Borla, etc). Other's do not (Magnaflow for example). Do the ones that list a system for 06 MCS regardless of whether or not its a convertible fit without additional bending to accommodate the bracing? Or will they work "as is"? Magnaflow systems seem to be less expensive, well thought of and LOUD, but they don't have a specific application for the convertible. Help please. Thanks.

The Gen 1 Convertible has an added 'cross-brace' just before the 'y'. The exhaust systems for the cabrio has an extra 'hump' to clear this cross brace.

Technically, the hatchback exhaust systems will hit this cross brace if it doesn't have this extra 'hump'.

Some people have solved this issue by adding spacers to the cross brace mounting point to lower the brace and increase clearance. This may be okay for some, but having the cross brace hanging down with reduced ground clearance may be an issue for others.

Good luck!

I bought an exhaust that was claimed to fit the cabrio. Well it did not Luckily the shop that was putting it in had a machine shop on speed dial. A couple measurements and an hour wait and two spacers showed up. I don't remember the measurement of the spacers but believe they are about 2" thick. The rear braces do not hang down much lower than before and the handling of the car has not changed.

I only suggest the Milltek for the Cabrio. It is the only one I've had clear the bracing and fit properly. Other systems always seem to rattle or require too much modification. For the price the exhaust should just go on like the Milltek does, plus it makes a good sound not too loud, and makes good torque.
