Steelies and winter tires on R52 S?
Howdy all,
Wanting to buy a set of winter steelies for my R52 MCSC. I think some 15x5.5's. Anyone know if these will clear the brakes? Need to move soon as snow is almost literally on the horizon here in WV. Alex at Tire Rack did not have any listed for a 2007 MCSC. Help!

I know that 15's will fit if you can get the correct centerpieces...remember Mini rims are hub centric, and most steel rims don't have the center piece that is needed to center the rim on the hub.
I had a set if 15's for winter rims for a few weeks..but had issues getting the correct center pieces, so I ended up swapping them for cheap alloys...
I can say the cheap alloys make the car feel much better....the steel rims were just far to heavy!!!
At one point tirerack and some mini dealers sold winter tire sets for mini's that fit right, but steel rims seem to be getting a bit rare.
Just do not let anybody try to convince you that you can use rims without the correct centering piece...you will get vibrations once the rims moves around on the lug bolts....sure they are shaped to keep the rim centered, but you still need the center piece!!
PS you have the standard brakes right, not the JCW or r56 conversion brakes right?! Those will not fit with 15's or even some 16's....
