Center Arm Rest

My armrest top keeps moving/sliding in my 2006 Conv. S. Very annoying. Any ideas to correct or retrofit?

Mine too, the cheezie little plastic tab that's supposed to hold it shut broke off very early in the game. Short of removing the dang thing, I've put double sided tape along the inside near the slide rail leaving the backing on the exposed part. It still slides back a little but I've gotten in the habit of bumping it forward with my elbow the minute I sit down.

Acknowledging that everybody has an opinion and only one can win out, the design team on that armrest gave up too easily...in my opinion.

My 08 MCS has always done the same thing. I have even been tempted to remove it. It Suxs ever time you shift the lid slides back! I have searched for a fix, but could not locate one. Some have had it replaced under warranty, but in a short time it starts sliding back again.

I *hate* that armrest. I have it in my new MCS. I had the flip top one in my old MCS. I may have to pay the dealer to swap the thing, because I've only had the new one for TWO days, and it drives me batty.

Use Velcro to keep it closed and that way its still functional. I hate the plastic clip all the automakers are going to these days. 2011 BMW Auto Repair Mechanic Hillsboro Oregon

I love having the armrest, but hated the sliding so I superglued mine shut. Problem solved. It really didn't have much storage room anyway.

I had the same problem with my 05 hatch and I also put some adhesive felt on the silver rail so the friction of the top would keep it from moving but not keep it from functioning. My armrest was a love / hate relationship to say the least. I loved the bit of storage as these cars have none but I hated the sliding top, the fact that not much would fit in the rear cup holder and the fact that when in the up position it was not up enough. My R52 did not come with one so I am a happy camper and don't miss the storage that much and the other problems at all.

5 minute epoxy solved this issue. You loose the storage but really, what can you store in there anyway ....
