R52 Official Cabrio Pics!! Very Cool (and very large)
#1
Okay first of all, forgive me if these have been posted before. I don't think they have but I could be wrong..
Anyway, here are some official pics of the new Cabrio which also show in really good detail some of the 2005 design changes that we all know about (check out the interior).
There are even a few visible design changes that, I at least, was not aware of (check out the shift **** and apparently larger, more useful sun visors).
These pics, along with others, are posted at http://www.mundomini.com , The Mexican MINI Club's official website. (a really cool site, by the way).
Anyway, enjoy...

Look is truly interesting ...but I'm not quite sold on it ...?????
IMHO...MINI just cut off the hardtop and added a ragtop with no real design engineering and/or asthetic concern.
The interior has a nice subtle change and I like it alot.
My 2002 is getting up in mileage (31K)... so was think'n on some kind of ...change.
As it stands now... I'll think I'll pass on this ragtop model .. and wait on a more interesting radical .... new presentation
When I 1st saw the MINI... I immediately said... "I must own this car"
I don't feel the same about this ragtop.
Peace,
D

I wonder if sliced pieces of grasshoppers and moth guts would fly into the
cabin after hitting that front antenna.
The overall interior design looks good though.
Not sold on the cabrio..well, not sold on any ragtop. never liked them.
If honda made the s2000 coupe any time soon, I would get it.

The worst looking thing about that car is the antenna. There really should be an in-glass antenna. From the side view the antenna looks big enuff to tilt the car foward raising the back wheels off the ground!
The second worst thing about that car is the center guages inplace of the large speedo. Blechh!

I can't understand all of the negativity about the Cabrio. I think it's a good loking car. I'm not fond of the antenna either, and I also dislike those boot hinges. Other than that, it looks pretty clean to me. Sure, you can argue that taking the top off ruins the MINI look, but that would be true with any cabrio design.
2 cents!
By the way, the center guage pack replacing the speedo is an option for '05, and all '05s will have a locking glove box.

I don't know ... I am not too crazy about it.
As someone else said, the center speedo has to stay. The whole interior looks strange. Very video-gamish.
The wheels also looks like plastic hubcaps rather than metal. The antenna, while making it look like a RC car, is the easiest thing to change for $20.
This car is obviously made for people that just want a ragtop. I cannot see a true Mini freak to get this
As for the center speedo dissapearing, I hope thet change this on the regular model as well ... this way our models will be worth a hell of a lot down the line

The extra gauges are totally optional. As I said before you may want to read more about
it here and here before commenting too much.
Also I would urge everyone to hold off judgement until they see the car in the flesh.
Consider this - much of the initial comments about the Cooper and the Cooper S were
negative too when photos were first released.

The car itself is butt ugly, but I like those smoother rockers, the fenders with no reflectors on them, the wheels and I especially like the paint-matched dash and mirror caps. Since my S-lites are pretty curb rashed I'll probably end up just buying a set of those if they're priced right (knowing BMW they probably won't be, but I'll keep my hopes up).
