Changing fog lamps - Please help
I know this is such a newbie question...I have to confess on the front end that I don't often change parts on my mini, in fact it is rare. But my "fix it in a jiff mechanic" retired and moved to Florida so I am on my own in the interim and pretty much as wet behind the ears as it comes when it comes to replacing car parts.
I have a 2005 mini cooper and i was in a little bender. No body damage but it knocked my head lamp and fog lamp out. Replaced the head lamp (which I have done in the past and is never easy...now I have to replace the fog lamp.
Clearly the panel in the wheel well had to be unscrewed and taken off (correct me if I am wrong)...Is this possible without getting the car on the lift.
Is there an easier way? Please help because the cops in my area will bust ***** if they see the front of your car and any one light is out...
Any constructive advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure why you'd get trouble for a busted fog light as they are optional
are you sure you're not talking about the parking light?
tell you what - how about a picture of your boo-boo and then we can tell you how to approach it.
If you are sure you are talking the fog light then yes you get to it by partially removing the wheel well liner and you don't need to be on a lift but pretty much need to remove the wheel in question which means putting that corner on a jack stand.... You fon't HAVE TO remove the wheel but you'll have an easier time if you do I think

Yes, are you talking about the parking / front turn signal light?
Front Turn signal / Parking light looks like this.

Front turn/ parking light you can get from the opening the hood and reaching down.
The fog light take a little more effort I have done it by removing the front bumper cover and by removing the wheel well and jacking the front corner up with a jack. Taking the bumper cover off made it easy.
Here is a link that is very helpful. Just get to the bumper cover part.
