Union Jack on my rearview mirror

I am a new Mini owner...and I love it!!! I am trying to find a Union Jack for my rearview mirror and am having a hard time finding one that will fit because I have the universial garage opener. Anyone have a link to a website that carries what im looking for. Or is there another way around this? Help!

Hello Scott,

The R50 and R53 ones will fit the R52 MINI convertible. The difference in these covers is the manual and auto dim. The manual mirror has a cut out for the twist **** on the bottom. The automatic dim mirror does not. MINI did not make a version for the universal door opener button.

But what can be done is to cut a rectangular portion of the thin plastic to clear the universal garage buttons. Or follow the natural U shape. Its thin hard plastic so it could be trimmed. Line it up, make a template and cut.

WOW...thank you ECSTuning, I will stop looking and start trimming. Thanks for the heads up, I also looked at the union jack covers at your site and you have a great price on them.
Now...any thoughts on the care of my convertible top?

You are welcome Scott.

Wash it with a good soap like Maxi Suds . And treat it with a protectant like chemical guys fabric protectant.

We carry chemical guys and they use the interior fabric guard for the exterior top.

Wash the top and let fully dry. After that, I used a lint roller to take off an access lint or dust.

Tape off the rear glass / side glass or cover it as well as the paint.

Apply a light even spray over the top and let dry again. Then you can remove the tape from the rear window, side windows, and paint.

I recommend the chenille plush wash microfiber mitt so you don't get the lint build up on the top from wool or cotton mitts. Makes it easy to wash the MINI.

MINI used to have there own Official Top Convertible kit but its currently not available as they are redoing there Car Care products line, possible in the future.

Thanks

Thanks ECS, ordered my union jack cover and a nice mitt to wash the car with. Question...in my profile on your site it asks me what engine I have and it lists 2 for this year Mini, a N14B16A or W11B16A where would I find this information?

Great, thanks for the order and if you are looking for more Union jack items, like side mirror caps or anything else let me know.

Those are the engine codes for the chassis.

Since you have a 2008 Convertible S , i take it, you will have the W11 engine. 2007 was the end of older engine / chassis which was carried on in the R52 Convertible to 2008. 2007 was the beginning of the new chassis R56 MINI Cooper S N14 engine. When you select W11 it shows the convertible.

Here is the break down:

Gen 1 Original body style

R50 MINI Cooper ( Base ) Hardtop "W10" 2002-2006

R53 MINI Cooper S (supercharged) Hardtop "W11" 2002-2006

R52 MINI Cooper Convertible ( Base ) "W10" 2005-2008

R52 MINI Cooper S Convertible ( supercharged ) "W11" 2005-2008

Gen 2 Newer body style

R56 MINI Cooper ( Base ) Hardtop "N12" 2007-8/2010

R56 MINI Cooper S ( Turbo ) Hardtop "N14" 2007-8/2010

Etc...

Thanks

You are welcome

The convertible on the first gen MINI is a whole another experience. I feel a different MINI with the top down.

Do you have the factory wind deflector, for motoring with the top down it really helps combat the wind? Especially on cooler days , then have the side window up and heated seats on. Mounts in the back and clicks into the holes on each side of the back seat side panels.

Enjoy your convertible, Its a great MINI ! It just puts a smile on your face when you drive it. Post up some pics when you can.
