Mcsc First Drive

WOW!!! Got the wife her MCSC for Christmas, and the weather has been less than perfect. Very cold & lots of snow. (Heated seats are awesome). But, I got to take her for a nice little drive this afternoon on a few twisties. I hav'nt much experience with previous models but I have to agree with all of the good things other folks have said regarding the '05. This thing is awesome! The gearing on the 6-speed is amazing, the power deliverey is smooth & instantaneous, and the handling is very special - no body roll & very secure / solid. Just a hoot! A sidenote; I do not have the feeling of being in such a small car, it is roomy & not at all claustrophobic. The car was not inexpensive, but I seriously doubt that one could find more fun per dollar anywhere else.
Someone else has said this before I, but this car is indeed the "new GTI". I've not enjoyed another car so much since my '83 Rabbit GTI, and that inludes a drive in one of the 20'th anniversary GTI's. We can't wait for spring & top down motoring.

Why? Because it's the tradition! When's yours due?

What a sweet hubby you are to but your wife a Cabrio! Is it really for her??? Just kidding........congrats and enjoy.......like you said, they are AWESOME!!

We are truly enjoying ours......sorry to rub it in, but the weather here in So Cal (with the exception of the past 2 days of rain) is perfect top down weather quite often.....just turn those bun warmers on and jack the heat up - you too can be topless in the winter...

Chow!

Yes, it (the Mini), is really for my better half. We have both admired the Mini since it's introduction, perhaps me more than her. However, we were fortunate to be able to travel to London last July to attend a wedding. There were actualy Mini Cabrio's at the Avis rental lot!! Seeing these cars sparked her interest. On our final day there a car hauler went by with a Cool Blue / Blue top Cabrio, and she said "thats the one"! That was all the motivation I needed. My wife currently drives a Honda CRV that just turned over 100,000 miles, most of which included child & pet hauling around. We still need to do those things, so the CRV is'nt going anywhere. But, for those times when its just her, or just she & I, it's time for the "toy".
As for me, I'll drive it when she lets me.
Cheers,
Richard
