Anyone have noisy brakes?

My 07 cabrio Just turning 2000 miles. I have JCW oversize disc brakes on the front wheels. At slow speeds when first applying the brakes, they make a screeching/loud rubbing kind of noise. They don't make the noise when going 50 mph and stopping at a red light. But while you are stopped you can release the brake and as it begins to roll slightly, you can apply the brakes and hear the brakes make a screeching/loud rubbing sound. They are stopping just fine but the noise is irratating. I plan on having them checked at the dealer in the near future. Just wanted to know if anyone else is having this noise problem.

Mine are getting louder. I know the winter salt and snow aren't doing too much for them either. The brakes have 43,000 miles on them so I'm looking to replace the pads soon. If I park the car for 2+ days with the e-brake on, the pads will stick to the rotors and make terrible noises until I stop a few times.

On a side note my brother did send me this link.... You can get pads and rotors semi-cheap...

Mine makes a little noise when coming to a stop from low speeds when it is cold, but after a few stops it goes away

My partner and I both have MINIs, and they both make that noise during the winter. I've always been told it has something to do with the cold weather - and it does disappear when the weather warms up.

Don't know the cause - and it is slightly embarrassing, huh?

Mine does the same until the brakes warm up. I assumed it was glazing. If I press the brakes once or twice fairly hard it seems to either warm them up faster or de-glaze them.

Yep, embarrassing is a good word for it, considering I paid $44,000 plus out the door for my mini. While showing off the Mini and letting a family member drive her, he noticed the brakes and said you paid how much for this car? I was told today by my salesman that one of the techs said to get up to about 70 mph and push on the brakes real hard and that hopefully that would solve the problem. I told him that I would make sure no one was behind me when I did it ! I live in Florida so it hasn't been to cold and I haven't had salt on the road to corrode them. I will try the hard brakeing and see what happens.

My brakes squeek on occasion as well. They've started doing it much less often, but I'm not sure if they're making less noise because 1) it's getting warmer 2) it hasn't rained recently 3) I've used the brakes "enough" (my MINI only has less than 1000 miles).

Gotta agree, it's REALLY annoying when they squeal, but I forget about the noise really fast when I drop the top and feel the wind in my hair :-D

Hey! I'm so glad I found this thread, I thought I was hearing things.
My 07 Cabrio does make brake squeals from time to time and it is usually in the morning or when braking from slow speeds. the Mini only has 7000 miles on it and I doubt I have worn through a set of pads already.
The amount of brake dust does lead me to believe that they won't last much more than the first service.
I wash these rims every three or four days, but sometimes you wouldn't know it by the amount of brake dust that builds up quickly.

My 06 didn't, but my new 05 (stock pads) does. "Embarassing" is a good word for it.
