The repair shop I was talking about is different from the used car dealer.
Heh, small world. I know I would have noticed that car if it lived in my work parking lot and would've hunted down the owner!
Big tall building...ns?

I have two dogs, a Boston Terrier and a Golden Retriever. No Boxer.

Yup, that's the one.

Does your other half work at a pet supply store?

Okay... I thought maybe I knew him.

So if he works from home and you live in Portland and work in South Portland, then shouldn't have any problems going a couple of months without a car

I'll give you his number. You can tell him that!
Actually, you're right. It shouldn't be that difficult. Most days he doesn't leave the house. But he sometimes has to travel.
I haven't approached the "share a car for 8 weeks" aspect with him yet!

Well since we don't have Zipcar available here, the next best way to get away with having only one (or no) car is to use Hotwire to occasionally rent a car from the airport. I did that three times in the beginning of the year, and it was very cheap (when compared to owning a vehicle) and fairly convenient as well.

That's an idea. My company also has an employee discount available with one of the big car rental companies; Hertz, I think.
My next goal is to get to Peabody (probably not until later this month) and actually look at and drive one and compare it to the regular MC, although I think I'm sold on the Clubman already. I might list my car on craigslist in the meantime, just to see what happens.

Heh, you're bucking for a referral, aren't you?
Actually, do they have a referral program? I'd be happy to say you referred me if you get anything out of it.
I spoke with a salesguy on the phone a couple weeks ago but it was by random call. It wasn't the same guy you went through.

No, I don't think they do (have a referral program). But you can tell Hrach I said hi anyway. The cars pretty much sell themselves, so it's not like going to a local Chevy dealer where they're desperate to get rid of them. They're no negotiation, and there's no wiggle room. That's why I say sell your Subaru yourself.

I knew there was no negotiating on the purchase but figured there had to be some on the trade.
I think I'll list it on cl anyway, just to see what I get for response.

Umm...Don't underestimate the impact of that part. It was almost exactly 8 weeks for us. Now, I had access to the old pickup and my motorcycle, but for most purposes it was "share a car." That was less of an issue, really, than the combination of anticipation and dearth of news from our dealer/MA. But, that's what the "Week X Support Group" threads are good for.

As for selling a Subaru, it should be easy up there. I had a guy come from VT all the way to NC for mine a few years ago.

Thanks, hoonu.
I mentioned it to him last night and he's OK with me taking his car most of the time. And on the days he needs to travel, if we can't coordinate the times, I'll rent a cheap car.

Hmmm, I'm still wondering how to get on the membership list. I've been following the thread since way back and I notice that there is no process to join other than asking on the forum. Is this right? I keep looking for me.
Meanwhile, I'll try an upload.

If T&CMCSa hasn't seen you ask to be added to the list, you might want to send him a PM.

Hey got my Littlebean today! Thanks again for everyone's help with the headliner issue. My better half & i agreed the the lighter color looked good if not maybe better to our tastes and was no big deal. The Sales Manager said that Mini would be sending me a check for all the problems i had. The Mini is awesome! Taking some time to get used to as my honda was out of alignment and old, and my 914 well lets just say is is a 35 year old car and drives that way with no comfort. If any one is an expert on the Iphone voice dial set up & use thing feel free to email me --ekatz2@verizon.net. Also the cable for charging ipod. my phone showed charging but did not.

If you use the IPHONE as a IPOD the phone goes into Airpane mode and shuts the phone down. Bluetooth the Iphone and it will give you voice dialing if your car is equipt for it, it does with the nav system. I use a seprate Ipod with the aux and usb port with the cable that was provided, Have had no problems with the charging. You need to set a code on the bluetooth on the car and then use that code on the iphone and they should pair and work fine.
Are they going to fix the other problems with the car or did you accept it as is?

There is a thread about the Iphone if you have the newer version.

You should probably ask your audio related questions here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...play.php?f=201. People with all different MINI types/colors frequent that forum.

Mr Ray,
I accepted the car as is. My wife said the colors were actually very nice together. The Sales Manager also said he asked Mini to send me a check for the aggravation on the whole issue. Plus they took the anthracite charge off of course. As for the phone, I was able to pair it, and learning the controls I find the alphabet / address list but still have not gotten the voice command to dial someone to work. The address list on my phone goes by first names and the Mini list came up last name first. So just two little issues.
