I honestly don't care for these lame BSSP made ads. The current MINIUSA ad agency seems to be pretty much hit and miss.
I long for the days when Crispin, Porter + Bogusky of Miami, used to handle the MINIUSA marketing account. The best automarketing campaign was done by those folks from 2002 until 2005/06 when they made the very foolish decision of dumping the MINIUSA account and go with Volkswagen, which by the way, hasn't been a very happy marriage ever since.
The current BSSP ad agency is based in Sausalito, CA and while some of the folks that work there live and breath MINIs, the whole collective hasn't been able to deliver consistent and great ads like those from CP+B.
Personally, I don't think BSSP gets the MINI at all.

If it's the pinball ad then it's an add meant to attract interest and attention and as such it's fine. No great info, but it has a vibe that works with MINIs, imo. Since MINI ads tend to not air on broadcast TV, who knows where it was seen. No point in over-thinking it. Heck, the fact that the car isn't even fully seen may be planned, just to spark interest in a car w/ those crazy doors!!!
