The New Jersey tags mean thats its a reps car.
BMW and Mini reps that get cars to either drive till they are out of "break in" period for journalist test drives, or their personal "company" cars all have NJ plates. At least on the East Coast
Our Finance guy this weekend tooka ride in a brand new 4 door M3, they haven't even released the 2 door officially yet. let alone the 4 door. It's not even supposed to be in the country. He has pics and took a ride in it. His neighbor had it cause he's a rep for the performance center and they wanted him to put 1200 miles on it so they could hand it off to jounalists. It had NJ plates as well
So if you see a Clubman or not released BMW/MINI with NJ plates, wave, they are someone important in the Company

It looks great on the road. I saw one in the showroom in England when we were there last month. But one the road it looked even better.
I know MINI is in Woodcliff Lake, but when my ex worked at Mercedes, all the cars she brought home had the manufactuer tags on them, not regular plates. But I agree it is definanatily a MINI bigwig.
