Congrats!
Ha! No sisters, I'm afraid. My wife is truly one of a kind and I barely deserve her.
We've been having a great time with the car. Has anyone taken "Road Scholar" as a car name yet? Being born in Oxford and all, it seems a natural fit. My new car is quite erudite.
Here we all are up in Oregon wine country, and also a shot of the interior, in case anyone is more interested in my car than in my wife's siblings

on your snazzy new Clubman! Your story of how it all came to be is inspiring! I have the same interior on our '08 - the black lounge leather sport seats are really good-looking, aren't they? It looks great with the BRG exterior.
The name 'Road Scholar' for your new Clubman is really grand - I am just a little envious b/c although we have our Mini's, I am waiting to order my one true Mini this coming Spring when I near the finish line of my doctoral degree. I'll just have to think a little harder for a suitable name for my British Green Clubman. Suggestions anyone??

I have added a couple of photos for the heck of it. I have had my Clubbie for 9,600 miles through sun, rain and snow. Great car with lots of carry room, comfort (after exchanging the run flats for Toyo Proxes 4's), zip and style. It's a keeper.

Yes, alas, the wonderful BRG does show the slings and arrows of dirt, water droplets, dust, etc., quite a bit - but when it is clean it's a knockout!
Can't speak to the heat factor...though I suppose any car that is a darker color gets hotter...that is why some choose the lighter color roof.

It's such a "relative" matter as to whether or not this "dirt showing" would bother one person or not. It annoyed me and I don't consider myself at all OCD, but perhaps I am just plain old lazy?
Have you seen the BRG in real life - it is a beautiful, dark green.
I don't think that red shows the stuff of life so much and don't think of it as being a heat seeking color, either.
The plus for Chili Red is that it's free!
Since I've owned several MINIs, I have come to value the "free" colors and find it rather annoying to have to ante up an extra $500, or whatever it is these days, for another color...but you can see by my signature line I have recently done just that.
When I think about a future MINI - years from now - unless they have a version of blue that I can't live without, I think I'll go Chili Red because it really is a bright and cheery color...and it's free.

I am 64 years old and been a car guy for a long time. I have owned about every color out there. To me, the BRG holds up real well about not looking dirty right away. I know black is a challenge and needs to be shiny or it looks dull. My BRG is great. I am a shiny car nut, so it doesn't go too long wihtout a wash.
As for heat, the double sunroof is you main source of heat build up. I have two pieces of nice poster paper I use when on a long expressway drive like to Florida. The shades help but not like having a ful sun block. If the car were to get warm, the windows go down in a snap and the sunroof opens pretty quick to let that heat out.
If you hold your unlock button down for 5-6 seconds, the windowws automatically drop all the way down. That is a nice quick release feature.
Don't worry about these two issues becasue they are not issues. Go for it!

BRG/Silver Clubman
I have located a BRG Clubman that I am interested. It has some options that I am not sure how they will look. The car is 90 minutes away and I haven't seen it yet.
Can anyone comment on how you think these options will look
BRG/Silver Roof
Roof and Mirror Caps Silver
C Pillar Silver
Color Line Dark Greay
Interior Surface Fluid Silver
It also has Premium and Cold, Auto, BLuetooth and Center Armrest.
The dealer is offering me a very good deal, so I am wondering if there is something wrong with the combination. It has a production date of 2/6/09
There is also a Pure Silver Clubman that I have seen and liked but the deal is not as good.
Thanks.
Rick
