How late can we change our order?

I have a Clubman order on 2/27 and schedule for week 14 production. How late can we change the order before production? Not that I will do anything to my order but just want to know others experience of last minutes changes.

Thanks

Once the order has been "accepted" by Plant Oxford, no further changes can be done to it. Typically, you need to follow up with your MA in case you want to make a last minute change, before the final window of opportunity closes.

In my experience, if your car is scheduled to start on a given Sunday or Monday, then you have up until the Friday before to make changes. So, that means you have until March 28th. But, sometimes they start earlier... don't wait too long.

Oh, but you have a good setup, so I don't think you'll be making any changes. After all, who really needs front and rear fog lights, and xenon headlights.

Me.

Hey, I ordered mine on 2/26 and haven't even been told when it will go into production - though thanks to you, I juste emailed and do now have a production #, though all the Owner's Lounge shows is "on order". Don't feel embarrassed if you want to change your order - it happens more than you'd think. But, timing is everything.

Otra, if your MA can't tell you, call 1-866-ASK-MINI and speak to a real person. They should be able to tell you.

I changed my order several times, to the point where I had to forfeit one car and put in a whole new order. My original was a Chili Red, and would have cost just under $24k. Now I've got Hot Chocolate, and I'm almost up to $26k.

Wow, forfeited your original - that's saying something if it added on much more time. It's amazing how easy it is to have the price climb, isn't it?

Thanks for the advice - I'll give it a shot. I do recall that sometimes it moves along slowly in the beginning and I was told that it would most likely not be here until the end of May...but maybe earlier. Until then, I shall live vicariously and enjoy my '06.

The only reason I changed the color was because of the wife, but I'd rather wait another month and live with a color that she's not happy about. I lucked out, sort of. My original MINI would have been ready this past weekend, but I'll only have to wait an extra three weeks. My MA put my new order in on the 14th, right before the launch party. The next day, he had 12 orders.

Sounds like everything worked out for the best for you and your wife. Interesting about the 12 orders the next day - and I see you live in Maine. It would be kind of interesting to get a break down of the numbers sold in various states.

As an aside - do you use snow tires? I have always had an extra set of wheels with snows on them...but I know not everyone feels they are needed.

I live in Maine, but our closest dealer is MINI of Peabody in Mass. There's another in Boston, one in Rhode Island, and one in Connecticut, and that's it for New England. I know that there's one guy from Lebanon, ME who ordered one, and another guy from Scarborough. As for the regular MINIs, we probably see two or three a week up here in the winter months, more in the summer when our tourists come to visit.

I don't use snow tires on our 04. I use a 2000 Chevy Silverado 4x4 with Goodyear Wrangler w/silent armor, load range E tires when it snows instead. It's not quite as fuel efficient, but I've never gotten stuck in the snow with it, nor have I encountered any hills that I can't climb. Fortunately, I don't have to use it much. Maybe once a week this winter because of all the crazy storms. But in the summer, I only use it if I have to haul something, or if my wife has the MINI. My first choice for my 15 mile commute will always be my bicycle though, since that's the most fuel efficient.

For our new Clubman, I ordered the 15" all-season tires. We'll see if it goes any better with those and DSC.

Actually there are two in Connecticut - but one is way down near me, it's in Stamford, CT - MINI of Fairfield County - which I use.

I can certainly understand why with your 4x4 you would not bother dealing with snow tires or even driving the MINI if you have serious snow. I bet you will be just fine with your all seasons and the DSC, given your 4x4 option for serious weather.

Very impressed by your 15 mile bicycle commute - good for you for being able to do that, and actually doing it!
