Just found out that the new addition was booked in @ Southampton on 3/1. Point of destination is NY. How do I follow the WW crossing?

As a group we should pool info on the alleged ships bringing our cars to us. We should set up a new site for each ship coming over and the dates of departure etc. I still have no info as to when the Otello will sail. Does anyone else have any info?

 

Tomorrow. It arrives in Southampton today, and it leaves tomorrow. There's more people over in the "Week 9 support group" who are also on this boat: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=129441. I know... technically, our cars were built in week 8, but they sat around and waited for a week, so we might as well be week 9.

 

I just figured out that my HC Clubman was loaded on the Otello today. It is due in New York March 16th.

Thanks HerLBC, for some reason I was finding just one ship named Otello but with a different radio call sign.

 

HerLBC --thanks. I started this line and got Otello as SCFH. No wonder I couldn't find the ship.. Please advise as to how you got the SBLW code? My wife who thought the MINIs were weird went with me to the dealer open house last Friday, and now she has picked out her MC2 and if we don't find one locally she will be searching sailwx.info for her car as well

I, too, only found Otello under a different call sign. How did you cocate the correct one.

I went with my wiffe to the dealer open house on Friday night to see the weird cars. I couldn't get her out of the place! Now see wants one and the dealer may have her vehicle in stock. NO FAIR. She may get her befor my reaches port!

If the one she wants has to be ordered, then she will be doing what I am now doing. Therefore all information is greatly accepted.

I followed that link and then another and discovered the correct call sign,SBLW, for the Otello. Here's some more info from another post on the 1addicts site:

It's of course totally ridiculous that I'm obsessively tracking Otello, since I know when it's going to dock in NY, but that hasn't stopped me. And I suppose it's also nuts that I asked a friend in Halifax to go down to the dock when the Otello stops there and wave to my Clubman and wish it a bon voyage down to NY.

 

Do we have a mystery, the Otello which has been checking in every 6 hours, hasn't ckeck in for a while. Maybe some unhappy other than MINI owners hijacked our ship!

Otello must have hit some heavy weather. She was supposed to be in NY on March 14 but now she is due there on the 16th. Based on her progress across the Atlantic I kind of wonder if that will slip another day. In any case, my MA called today and said my car may be ready on Good Friday. Yeah, sure. But I'll keep hoping.

 

With a name like MunjoyMini, I knew you must have been from Maine. If you're getting your car on Good Friday, then that means I should have mine that day too. You ordered from Peabody, right? It's nice that they called you... no one called me. Let me know when you go down... maybe my wife and I can hitch a ride since our 04 should be sold by then.

I'm pretty dubious that MINI can get the car through the VDC, to Mass., through the dealer prep and to MunjoyMini in five days.
I told my salesman it'd be convenient for us to pick our Clubman up on 3/24 and he said that might be possible as it typically takes one to two weeks from the ship docking to delivery. But that was before we found out the Otello is now a day behind its original schedule.

 

Hi Tim781996. Otello proved me wrong and appears to be just a few hours from Halifax so she should be in NY on Sunday, per the new schedule. I'd love to take you to Peabody but there will be three of us in an R56 Mini so we'll only have room for one more. That's right, when I ordered my Clubman, my daughter bought a Mini off the lot. So she has been driving it about three weeks now and absolutely loving it. My MA is Hrach. Great guy.
Yes, I grew up on Munjoy Hill in Portland.
HerLBC, where are you in NH? If I ever sell my place I'm moving to NH for sure! Did you buy at Peabody?

 

Yes, Hrach is a one and only, that's for sure, but I have a different MA at Peabody. I live outside of Durham.
BTW, I belong to a British car club based out of Portland that welcomes new and old Minis along with MGs, Triumphs, Jags, etc. It's a fun group with lots of events of all kinds. Me, you and Tim, three Clubmans (Clubmen?), we could have our own category.

 

Hrach is my MA as well.

My wife lived outside of Durham (Lee). I imported her to Maine almost three years ago. Governor Baldacci still owes me a "thank you" note for bringing him another tax payer.

 

We actually live in Lee. Since so few know where that is I usually say Durham or even Portsmouth. She made the right move. Taxes in Lee are probably higher than Maine's, thanks to the school funding issues.

 

Hi All, looks like we are the few to respong to Open Up Otello. What is the name of the British car club in Portland? OK on Lee, I was in Barrington last night delivering my daughter's old car to a couple. Lot's of snow!
Maine's taxes are the second highest in the nation, only NY beats us. NH taxes are the second lowest, only Alaska is lower, so, no, your taxes are way, way lower than Maine's. Our crushing taxes are the main reason I want to get out of this state.
Are you two doing "Mini's On Top" and/or "Mini Meet East" (In Bethel, Maine) this year? Hope to meet you at one of those events or before.
Otello seems to have gone into hiding.
There has been an ongoing debate as to whether it's Clubmans or Clubmen. The best suggestion I have seen is Clubbies, or Clubbys.

 

Yeah, taxes really get you in Maine. She rented in Lee, so she only paid taxes on her car, which were considerably lower than Maine's excise tax. Our home property taxes may be lower than NH, but we've got an income tax, sales tax, and high excise taxes to deal with as well.
