Xenon really worth it?

I am about to put my order in for a Clubman S as well. I'm agonizing over the Xenon headlights. Do they really improve night driving visablity? Or do they just look cool?

They are simply the most important option box you can tick because they can save your life - and that of the pedestrian you wouldn't have seen without them. So drop every other option you planned to get if you have to because the budget is getting pushed!

Agreed. They are one of the options that once you have, you will never want to live without them.

Thanks for the advice on the HID headlights. They are back in I also noticed the Consumer Reports mentioned that Mini HIDs where amongst the best headlights they've seen.

Before you get a Clubman with rear fog lights, you might want to read the thread titled "Pictures of Clubman with REAR Fog Light". The Rear Fog lights on the Clubman are different than those on the MC and MCS.

Yes, I started that thread and it seems like the rear fog is not the same as what mini.com configuratior pictures shown.

I got the halogens here and I am happy. Unfortunately where I live, Xenons are a magnet for would be thieves. I do not need that kind of stress.

Xenons are great if your driving takes place in pitch black roads the vast majority of the time. City users driving under street lights should be OK with Halogens.

Halogens are cheaper, run cooler and don't have the weight and complexity of Xenons.

And before anyone flames me, yes I have driven several MINIs with Xenons. The light is nice, but the sharp cutoff is bothersome. Not sold on them yet. Maybe next time.

The rear fog light on the Clubman is located on the left tail light assembly. The right tail light houses the reverse light.

In the R56 S you get 2 rear fog lights mounted in the lower valance of the rear bumper cover. In the R56 Cooper, you get a single fog light mounted dead center in the rear bumper cover.

They are better than the Xenons in the first gen cars because they have Bi-Xenons for both low and high beam. The old setup was Xenon for low beam and halogen for high beam.
