seating

Maybe this is something everybody else knows, but I only found out today. It probably only applies to a couple people out there, too.I realize that. When you look at the clubman on the mini site, it shows3 headrests. Implying that 3 small people can fit in the back. That pic is from the euro spec version. The US spec version is 4 headrests, 4 seat belts. It was very shocking to me. I've been trying to convincemy wife to get the clubman instead of a CRV.

The Clubman is a four-seater only in the U.S.

Yeah, I found that out back in December, but I'm getting one anyway. I don't understand why the couldn't add the fifth seatbelt to the US version.

The middle rear passenger seat in the Euro spec Clubman is a joke. I can not see an adult seating there for anything more than a quick ride in the car. Also. the seatbelt for the middle passenger is mounted in the roof rear headliner and looks UGLY. I don't know for a fact if the third seatbelt and middle rear headrest can be retrofit on a US spec Clubman. Probably it can be done, but expensive. I see little point for it, really.

I've never seen a 5-seater Clubman, even in UK dealers, as everyone (?) here specs the alternative.

Is the 5-seater an extra charge option? I wouldn't buy it either. That seatbelt hanging from the roof is not pretty to look at.

I had a seatbelt tucked into the roof of my Murano. It didn't bother me. I wouldn't expect an adult to be sitting in the middle, but it'd be nice to have for the three nephews.

I am sure someone will offer a retrofit kit in the aftermarket. In my case, it will not be very useful because the car seat edge almost takes over what would be the center seating position.

No extra either way in the UK; we just have to tick the box for what we want.

Well the good news for me my wife agrees
to wait 2 years for the mini SAV.

I hope it gets good gas mileage.

She's a "how much does it cost to fill up?" person, not
a "what gas milage does that get" person.

So it's been a struggle to get her to accept that
20 mpg (CRV) is bad now, and gonna get much worse.

Hmm, I thought I had spied a 3rd headrest in some of those pics, as well, but hadn't asked any questions about it. I'm fine with not being able to fit a 5th person in the car. I know once I have my Clubman I'll have lots of people wanting to pile into it, but they'll just have to take turns, 3 at a time
