Do you want to see what it looks like on? All US Clubmans come with the rear fog lamp built into the left tail light assembly - which is why there is only one rear reverse light on the right side.

Really When you try to add it at the configuration at MINI.com, it will show another 2 lights at the lower grille

So when you add it for $100, you're just adding the switch?
From what I understand tim, there is a bit of system reprograming and you have to run the wires. Someone in the Electrical mod forum put the fog in after purchase. It was more involved and expensive than I thought it would be.

The pictures on the Build Your Own MINI are incorrect. The R56 puts the rear fogs on the lower bumper, but the Clubman's rear foglight is totally different. I've attached my crude diagram to help... ;-)
So when you're out at night in a foggy situation, you can turn it on. It's brighter than your running lights...looks like a brake light... Just make the rear end more noticeable
Does this mean that the reverse light is only on one side if you have the rear fog light?
Yes. It is a little strange. I think what happened is the designers were so tired and stressed out by the time they figured out the design of the hinges on the barn doors, they just sort of threw this together as an afterthought.
Should've put reverse lights at the bottom of both tail lights and instead of those reflectors below the tail lights, that's where they should have put dual fog lights.

This is the common configuration (single light to the left)in Europe and has been for quite awhile...
One rear fog light...sounds like an answer to a question no one asked! I'm glad I didn't check it on my options list, as I just don't see it being very useful. I'm also confused about it being an option, if it's on every Clubman. Is the lamp always there, but not the switch? Does the lamp illuminate as part of the backup lights when in reverse, or is there one backup light on the right, and one non-functioning fog lamp on the left? This is one strange option!

It's just a way to make a little money by calling it an option. They build it into every car because it's cheaper to do that than pay to make two different types of taillights.....especially since rear fogs are required by law in the UK. The 02-04 cars were the same way...the bulbs and wires were all there, you just needed a switch and the option turned on by the dealer.
The one sided fog light isn't an after thought or uncommon....it's common on many european cars and you will notice that many audis come the same way.
So all Clubmans have a pre-wired fog lamp, left rear only, with no function unless you add an optional switch? I guess this is a new concept in options, at least to me! Maybe they can do the same with the headlights, horn, etc. Simply disconnect all the electronics and charge to reinstall the switches!
You want that A/C with or without the switch? Radio? Heater? They could make a fortune!

It is basically a calculated cost cutting move. Only install one rear fog lamp and one backup lamp. I am concerned about having a backup lamp only on one side. I asked about it on MINI2 and the response was yeah, backup lighting on the Clubman is poor. Maybe some owners here could chime in. When I get a Clubman, I may forego the rear fog and get a left side taillight from the UK, which would give me a backup light on both sides.

Do the UK cars really have opposite taillights? I know the driver's seat is opposite, but I would imagine that taillights are something that wouldn't swap places.....
