R55 Lo-Jack?

The only time a car every gets stolen in my neck of the woods is when someone leaves the keys in it and some kid decides to go on joy ride. So for me, I wouldn't consider it. I believe the Clubman does have a vehicle immobilizer though. I've only ever heard of one MINI getting stolen from a forum member. Maybe there's another one out there somewhere, though.
So for me, I'd say no.

The MINI alarm system is listed as a $500 option on Clubmen in the US - using the standard pre-wiring. I don't know any details as it's standard in the UK!

The Clubman does have the immobilizer. After reading another post somewhere, I realized that I'd better call my insurance company and find out what the deal was with the discount. I had always thought I had to have an alarm, however it turns out that it is the passive engine immobilizer - that comes on automatically when you remove the keys - that is what they base their discount upon. If I'd thought to ask this several years ago I would have saved myself $500!
This time around, I've put some of that $500 towards other extras.
Check with your own insurance company, but it makes much more sense that the immobilizer would be the reason for the discount - doesn't even matter if the door is locked or not.
P.S. Obviously, I wouldn't leave anything within sight in my car even if it were locked because if someone really wants to all they have to do is smash the window...grab the stuff and take off.
