YAY! I Got My Personalized Plate!
After my 782 day wait for the Clubman, and then delivery Feb. 25th I finally got the real plate to go on the car. I immediately got online and ordered the new personalized plate. I had wanted Clubman but I'm fairly certain that MINI N. Scottsdale got that. HOwever I did get Clubby1. I am happy, even though I had so many others to choose from.
Also found out that my article on the wait will be going into Roundel magazine.
Doubly good day!

The most difficult part for me was choosing from those I found still available. A few of them were MYZUG, NO1ZUG, R55MINI, ROOOOOO (for my greyhounds), OTTOZUG (his name is Otto), NO1CLUB, TWISTYS. I had at least 20 of them I'd been watching, but I started calling him Clubby way back in October, so it won out in the end. The dealership knew I wanted CLUBMAN and warned me I should purchase it for one of our other vehicles and later switch to protect it, but I couldn't see paying the state fee twice to do that. Their manager beat me to it. Oh well. CLUBBY is sweet.
MINICLUBMAN I would have tried for your plate with the no. 1 in arizona, but they won't allow 8 characters. My husband thought I should have gone for just CLUBBY, but he doesn't understand that I wanted to no. 1 included as I was that number on the wait list. Very few times have I ever been no. 1. Although now I've requested to be put on the 2009 Cabrio wait list, so it looks like it will repeat itself.
Better go work so I can afford both of them.

our plates
We ordered and recieved about 8 months ago= MINIXXL. Funny part is things got crazy and we are finally ordering the car this week. Since we had to assign the plates they are actually on our Mercury Grand Marquis...which is funny as well.
Take care,
Grady

After my 782 day wait for the Clubman, and then delivery Feb. 25th I finally got the real plate to go on the car. I immediately got online and ordered the new personalized plate. I had wanted Clubman but I'm fairly certain that MINI N. Scottsdale got that. HOwever I did get Clubby1. I am happy, even though I had so many others to choose from.
So, on January 5th of this year, I began idly fooling around on the AZ personalized plate configurator and had tried out about 25 or 30 different names to see if they were available when the thought occurred to me to give Clubman a try, thinking it was long gone by this time. Lo and behold, it popped up as available. I couldn’t believe it , and as you know, they can’t be reserved, so I immediately decided to get it for the Pacifica, wondering if I could grab my credit card and get the info entered and the website clicked before it disappeared, imagining someone else doing the same thing at the same moment (and maybe they were). Of course, it worked because the plate is presently on the Pacifica awaiting transfer.
Then on January 11, we went down to N. Scottsdale Mini, popped down our $1000 with Brian Dewire (an extremely nice and helpful person) and got on the wait list. Demonstrating an abundance of prudence and fighting the euphoria of being in the New Mini Bubble, we waited until they actually appeared at the dealership so we could see one in the Mini flesh and drive it. We did that on February 22 and ordered a Sparkling Silver/Black Clubman S at the end of the drive. On February 29 it was delivered to the Southampton Terminal, and on March 4, it was loaded along with 265 other Mini’s, and left on the Good Ship Toronto for Port Hueneme, California , where it’s due on March 24. I’m presently watching it go through the Panama Canal on their streaming webcams as I draft this.
I don’t post often on NAM, but I lurk a lot, and I can’t help but feel somewhat guilty (but not THAT guilty ) about scoring the Clubman plate when juxtaposed against your over-two-year wait . However, I think Clubby1 is a great choice for you and quite imaginative. Also, having had a pet Greyhound earlier in my life, I enjoy seeing the pictures of yours. Greyhounds are very sweet dogs.
So, I thought I’d take the heat off Scottsdale Mini and let you know the full story about the plate. I hope to see you on the Arizona Highways one of these days, and we wave , although sometimes the Minis get by us too fast, which we all know is one of their character traits .

Thanks for letting me in on this. I know when I talked with Drew he told me to get it for one of our other cars and transfer it. However as my husband has muscular dystrophy and I am the breadwinner I didn't want to have to pay the fees to transfer the plate as Drew said it would be around $100. Plus the other cars have the handicapped logo and they won't allow 7 letters.
I'm a freelance editor and my last check before this last week was in December, so I watch my accounts. Of course the checks were over a month late so I'm glad I didn't spring for it back then. Just thought I would take my chances.
In the scope of it all it doesn't really matter. I'm just happy that my article on my long wait will be in Roundel. I learned a long time ago that little disappointments in life will kill you if you let them. Glad the plate went to someone who appreciates the car. Now I'm waiting to be put on the list for the 2009 Cabrio. Selling my BMW convertible to do it. I better get back to work.
