Being in the Dallas area, it is usually too hot or to cold to use the Sunroof. But October is a great sunroof month! I also pop the sunroof open when parking in the sun in the summer (when there is zero chance of rain).

I live in Memphis. I love the sunroof. I find the sunscreen works fine on sunny days, but would much prefer leaving it open. I just wish you didn't have to hold the switch.

Yeah! What is with that switch? I guess I could understand closing it, but it should at least one-touch open!!

My Clubman does not have the sunroof. Feels racier at the track and I'm guessing that not having it saves a few pounds. I don't have to worry about any interference with the rack and wind fairing. According to my mechanic they are EXPENSIVE as heck to repair so I don't have to worry about that either. I have test driven a few Clubmans with the sunroof and agree with some of the negative comments on here about the mesh screen.

Even still, the sunroof is the one thing I would install this weekend if I could!

Lots of good advice in the past few pages. But, my grandpa always said "if you are in doubt, don't" However, put me in the affirmative column. Had several cars, including 2 other mini's, all with sunroofs and never a problem. Personally, I would love to have a cabrio or roadster but that is not practical at this time. The sunroof allows my Clubman to have a little piece of fresh air and ragtop style!

You revived a thread that's 5 years old. The OP hasn't even signed onto the forum since 2008.

It's like the OP asked, "Should i eat a hamburger or a burrito for lunch today?" and you answered, "Burrito." 5 years later.

Anyway, not trying to start anything. Just pointing out that the OP probably doesn't care whether he should get a sunroof or not. He probably doesn't even own a MINI anymore... if he ever did.

Oh come on. Regardless of what the OP did years ago, there are people right now trying to decide whether to get a sunroof -- and they want to hear the accumulated wisdom.

I ordered mine without, and for two reasons. First and most important, at 6'4", I'm quite tall and need all the headroom I can get. With the sunroof there's not enough, without it, there's plenty. Second, every one I've seen has a shade to reduce the amount of light (and heat) coming in, but nothing that completely blocks the light. I don't like that. So for me, no sunroof. Oh, and finally, why does a nimble car need the extra weight of a sunroof right at the top of the chassis/body structure? But that's just me.

no sunroof

I purchase my 2011 Clubman off the lot. Since I wanted an auto , the only Clubman they had did have the sunroof.

Back in the old days cars had metal sliding sunroofs and you never felt the heat from the roof. Now with glass roofs, mostly called Moonroofs, you always can feel the heat transfer from the Moonroof. Even with the shade you have a hot spot and with the dual roof in the Mini it heats the whole car up.

To counter this I had a roof graphic put on that covered the sunroof. Even this did not cut the heat transfer. Next I had a tint shop put the ceramic tint on the inside of the sunroof glass.. This had marginal effect. Finally, I took one of the silver windshield reflectors and cut it into 2 pieces to fit between the sun screen and the sunroof glass. This works great. You cannot look up and see the reflector because I keep the shades closed and from the outside you cannot see the silver reflector because of the tinted sunroof. On the rear pop up part of the sunroof, I used the part of the windshield reflector that has the rubber stoppers on it so I can pop the rear and the shield and it is shade is not sucked out of the car.

Long story short, I wish I did not have the sunroof and these issues to deal with.

One other issue on the pros for having a sunroof. Many people feel that it is harder to sell a Mini without a sunroof than one that has a sunroof, so better re-sale value.

One thing I would have if I ever ordered another Clubman is the factory roof rack.

Good luck

It may indeed be true that not having a sunroof reduces resale. I'd imagine that having the manual trans has the same effect. I'm good with that.
