Hawk is supposed to be working on pads for the R56 Coupe. Aren't the Clubman brakes the same as the coupe?

I'm not sure. I do know that ours isn't a race car and with 4 wheel disks and the weight of the car, I do not foresee the braking performance changing at all from the stock pads. I'm sure it will still stop on a dime. I will probably go with drilled rotors at the same time...depending on the costs.

RaceFace see the post I just left in the Pictures thread for a great detailing product that may help with your dust issue.

Hawk makes the HPS pad for them and it has a better bite than the ceramics, and still a low dust pad. i also do not recommend drill rotors. to many problems with cracking.

Cracking? Really? Hmmm....then maybe I will leave the rotors alone. Thanks for the input!

Are the HPS available for the R56 now? TireRack.com still shows no brake options for my 2007 MCS.

I got the quote from Carbotech. They are $129 for the fronts, $122 for the rear.

Here's some of what he had to in his original email:

We do have a fantastic street compound, the 1521. It is quiet, low-dust and has tremendous stopping power. The dust will be significantly less than your OEM dust is and is also 100% non-corrosive . I wash my car every 2-3 weeks and never notice it. (I have 5 spoke Miata wheels.) You will also notice that our brakes are rotor friendly and will out-last OEM brake pads. I need to know if you have the JCW package or not to give you prices. Thanks for your interest. Can I ask how you heard about us? I look forward to hearing from you again.

I replied back and said I did not have JCW package and he came back with the prices. I will probably be pulling the trigger this week!

Old post, I know, but the Akebono pads are the best I've ever used. Essntially totally dustless, amazing stopping power, rotor friendly. But they are quite expensive.

Go with the EBC red stuff pads, no dust, light on the rotors and great stopping power.

Hawks are pretty aggressive on the rotors.

I put the Akebono pads onto my MINI 2 years ago with Centric 125 series rotors. For the last year I have had the OBC plug-ins from my insurance company to monitor our driving/braking habits to try for a lower insurance cost. The MINI has scored over 80 hard braking events and about 10 extreme braking events over the year while our newer Hyundai Elantra with OEM brakes scored ZERO hard or extreme braking events. My wife and I drive both cars about an equal amount. My conclusion is that the Akebono pads will get you stopped QUICK, just like the OEM. And the brake dust is a thing of the past.
BTW, my insurance discount for the MINI was 9% and the Hyundai was 15% so they didn't care that much about all those hard braking events. Of course, no accidents during this past year.

I have the Akebonos and Centrics, good combo. Being old school I would never let the Insurance company monitor my car, bad mojo. Can't even imagine what kind of crap they can pull on you if you get in a crash.

Believe me, all that data is stored on your OBC and your insurance company will access it in a $$$$ crash.
