First MINI

Well I had stepped aside from my former employer to take another assignment and had to give up the company 4 Runner. Since I was not going to be on the road everyday-I was looking for something fun and less expensive to drive.

I drove new mustangs, lexus, mazdas, and due to curiosity just showed up at the Mini store in Nashville. Richie the salesman handed me the keys and said take it out for a drive. So my daughter and I were off. I grinned from ear to ear the whole drive. I took my son and wife back two days later and they drove it. That night I purchased a 08 Clubman- Lightning Blue and sliver, blue/black leather/premium package, special wheels, 6 spd, dual sun roof, fun fun fun. Please forgive my primitive way of describing all the features because I am not up on all the Mini lingo and abbreviations yet-but it is so much fun to drive.

Having owned Corvettes and love them-this Mini doesn't have the power but it handles so much better. It reminds me of my Honda S2000 as far as handling with more room.

So if you see a 50 year old kid driving down the road with a big grin-give a wave!

This 61 year old kid will definitely wave as I pass you by. I say that as my kids are all grown now, so I don't have to be so careful!

P.S. Welcome aboard! And love live the MINI!

4 Runner vs Corvette vs MINI Clubman?

What's more fun and better mpg? Hard to beat these days.

What did you daughter think of the MINI?

Probably one word... Cool.

and welcome to NAM along with the world of MINIs. You'll be thinking to yourself - "Gee - WHY did I wait SO long to get such a fun car"...

Congrats on your Clubman...

Hi, just a note. My grandson, who is nine, went with me when I picked up the 05 MCS from the dealer. He comes over every Sat. to help me wash it. I asked him why he likes to help me wash the mini and he replied; So it will still be real nice when you give it to me.

Congratulations on your new MINI! Interestingly, I think there are quite a few over 50s who have chosen the MINI brand - at least there are around the NY metro area. Enjoy yourself and post a few photos when you can, too.

From one who is 55, I wave, flash my lights, and if you still don't know if its me I have this big grin on my face, but then again, we all do.

Lots of luck,
Larry (ClubRed)

How can you refuse a request like that?
