exactly a month later, there is no trace of the shine left ... and have not washed it since. the weather in NY has been very erratic, almost tropical, with t-storms almost everyday ... have yet to catch a nice 5 day stretch of sunshine to make it all worthwile again.
anyone else perform a thorough first detail since?

Yes, ours got it's first bath last week...spent three days on it but no wax yet. It has rained in KC like every other day for a month and we've had the car for 3 weeks. Very complicated machine, lot's of details to wash up. And I Windexed the windows which came out looking like crap...back to Stoner's or Bon Ami I go. But it looks good and was a big hit at it's first car show last weekend. the ONLY Clubman there.

Okay, so shoot me for resurrecting an old thread, but I've been taking your collective names in vain today.
Inspired by this thread, even before the Clubman was in production, I scrounged up some Dawn (no Palmolive for this task), summoned up the clay skills I honed on SWMBO's Prius a few weeks ago, and detailed the poor bugger within an inch of its life. I did commit the heresy of not using Zymol or Prima, so shoot me.
The wife walked in the garage and said "you almost can't see the car for the shine!"
Mission accomplished. Ya ba****ds.

I detailed the hell out of LadyG a few weeks ago.
Dawn, clay bar, polish, wax. I went with Meguiars, and for the final wax I used their NXT Tech Wax 2.0 . Took about 4 hours total, but man was it worth it!! She still looks great!

LOL @ Dawn ... you guys just reminded me do my dishes.
and don't forget NOT to use it again ... unless you WANT to strip off old wax at some point ... possibly the next time you clay bar.
oh yeah ... I've been in a Sparkling Silver S Coupe loaner for over a week now (and looks like another week) ... would it be straight-jacket time if I decided to detail it?

Yes, it's for real, and yes, you need it for all new cars. Put your hand inside of a plastic ziplock type bag, run it across your cars WET paint. If you feel anything not smooth, you need to clay.
