The window issue is still alive!!!

OK, I regretfully turned in the JCW loaner rocket and got my beloved blue mosquito back. The said they initialized/indexed the windows and all was good and that a new window motor would not be necessary. To be honest, I pretty much feel that there is a bad relay switch gone bad, not the motor. The motor works fine, the relay tells the motor what to do right? Anyway, I got home, put the window up and it drops halfway down. I can do the usual workaround by holding it down for a few seconds and then up for a few seconds, but the problem returns after a while. Surely someone else has had this problem and they fixed it. I would love to hear from anyone who had this issue with the window not staying up and how their dealer fixed it. Inquiring minds want to know. Yes, I have been to all the other window threads but none have answered the question.

After viewing all the window related issues on this forum and others, I told them that a new motor would be in order. They totally agreed! One is on its way from Oxford England as I speak. Now that's service!

I had one day where my window would go half way down every time I closed it. I think I read that if you hold the switch for 15 seconds it would go back to normal, I did, it did, but really, I have no idea what I did, but it works OK.
Life goes on, window is up....Good Luck

LarryParker, that's what I had exact same problem. Anyway, tech people did re-initialize windows programming first time, second time they thought it may the actuator problem, but it was not, after an hour investigation they did order special part for my mini. And three weeks later, they replace my passenger's side window motor finally... so far so good.

I haven't run across this problem....yet....but just curious. Has anyone tried disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes or so, then re-connecting and trying it again? I have had issues in the past with GM vehicles and it was 'healed' by disconnecting the battery which resets the system.

Just a thought.

Same problem here...tried the "toggling up and down" trick mentioned somewhere else but it didn't work. Will give the "holding for 15 seconds" trick a try next.

See window dipper thread in regards to this, My Clubman is bewitched, some times the windows dip, most of the time they don't. Sometimes the auto up works, sometimes it doesn't. There is a larger problem here....I have my Clubman in the shop for the fourth time today trying to resolve this problem. I don't think they (BMW NA) know how to resolve the problem. If anyone knows how to re-index the windows or reset them on your own, please post it. I am tired of going to the dealership, only to find they can not fix the problem. Perhaps it's the Ghost of Lucas.....?
